Two different ancistrus?

Posting for a friend who can't get on this site for some reason. She has two ancistrus and initially thought they were the same, but now is wondering if they're different. Here's what she had to say: One is very dark - almost black and is only about 3 inches in length. It had a rounded dorsal fin ...

Re: Looking for the best type of pleco for algae

Thanks. I did have a BN that I liked a lot, but my husband commandeered it for his discus tank. Guess it's time to get my own. /:)

Looking for the best type of pleco for algae

Hello all, I have a 55g community tank that I've had up and running for about 3 years, and since putting in new and better lighting have developed an algae problem. I started up a DIY CO2 system, but I'd like to get a pleco that will help me scour the glass and plants. Looking for suggestions ...

Re: Bought these as SAEs ... I don't think so.

They're definitely Epalzeorhynchus kalopterus. And from what I've been reading, it's doubtful I'll find a true Siamese algae eater in the U.S. But I will try making contact with the one supplier mentioned in the article referenced. Thanks again.

EMERGENCY with scleromystax barbatus

I got six of these about 3 weeks ago and housed them in my 20g cory tank. Two days ago, the first one died. I thought that since they were wild caught it could easily have been old age and/or stress of the trip catching up to it. I found another dead one today, full of eggs, with no signs of disease ...

Re: I don't think these are brochis

At the moment they're housed with c. trilineatus, c. leukomelus, and peppers.

After doing more research, it's starting to look like they're sclermystax kronei. Can anyone confirm?

I don't think these are brochis

like my LFS told me, but what are they? They're the same shape and size as my c. delphax and c. ambiacus. I now have 6! http://i151.photobucket.com/albums/s134/thisoldspouse/cc0d0f5a.jpg http://i151.photobucket.com/albums/s134/thisoldspouse/3f70f392.jpg http://i151.photobucket.com/albums/s134 ...

Re: I thought it was a c. agassizii, but ...

Mine is now about 3" in length, the biggest cory I have. Does that fit with the c. ambiacus? I just read a little info about how they're confused with the c. agassizii, and I think you're right about this I.D. These are what I think are my c. delphax. Is this correct? (I got all these cory at an LFS ...

Bump! :-W

The other suggestion is c. delphax, but there is no color on the dorsal fin. But, maybe?

I thought it was a c. agassizii, but ...

now I don't think so. When I first bought her I thought she was a c. delphax like the rest of the group I bought, but she's on her own and definitely not c. delphax. I posted her photo on another forum and they identified her as c. agassizii, but that's not right either. She's about 2.5" long. Help ...

Re: Looking for photos of juvies

Here's one I took a few minutes ago. It's 10 days old, and about 3/4" long already, which makes me lean toward thinking it's a delphax. The other fry in the tank (save for one just like this one) are all much smaller, even though they're 13 days old. http://i151.photobucket.com/albums/s134 ...

Re: How many Cory catfish can I keep in a 10 gal tank?

Do some research to find out which species run small and look for those so you can comfortably have more than just a couple. Since they like to shoal and it's best to get at least 6, the smaller the better in your 10g.

Looking for photos of juvies

Through some miracle of fate, I've ended up with about 10 fry from different species. They're getting old enough so that they're starting to look like cory instead of sperm, but since they're different species, is there a resource that can show me what they might be? :-??

Re: Keeping multiple species of corys?

I have a 20g with bronze, long fin pepper, trilineatus and peppered cory, and they just spawned a week or so ago. Not even sure which ones I'm raising just yet, but they're doing well. The day after, I retrieved a bunch of eggs from my 55g that has agassizii, albino and delphax. A couple hatched ...
