Re: Need urgent ID please
Looks like a peckoltia, L202 could be a fit given the wide spacing between bars and the fin coloration.

Re: mixed Amazon biotope setup
This, I am very aware of. I have studied numerous writings of the godfather of discus, Jack Wattley and of Dr Eduard Schmidt-Focke. The reason we have so many crazy color morphs is because of selective breeding. The heckel discus is a different species while the blue/brown are the same the green is ...

Re: True L10a breeding
I have an update since their is really not too much on the web about a strategy in raising these guys. They are really only feeding at night!( i have always known catfish to be mainly nocturnal hunters... never put 2 and 2 together). At night, they congregate on the bottom of the tank when the ...
Re: Filters
I am breeding L10a rineloricaria right now, and I moved one of my 3 emperor 400 hob filter to my 10 gallon tank so that it already had a biomass. I must agree with Shane that no 1 answer is wrong but here is what I find. The main reason you have a fish die-off is because of the build up of nitrates ...

Re: mixed Amazon biotope setup
This was a thought of mine when I purchased the L201's and I have actually been contemplating removing them from the main tank and having them in a 20 long. My main goal right now is getting my new male L134 to pair up with one of the females in the tank. I increased the cave spawning sites and ...

Re: mixed Amazon biotope setup
the large piece of wood is an oak root from a creek in new hampshire it was even larger but I had to reduce the size due to the buoyancy exerted on the glass cover. The plecos munch the exterior and it helps with the water softness and beneficial bacteria.

True L10a breeding
I have successfully bred the German non hybrid rineloricaria but unfortunately the first batch surprised me by hatching in my biotope setup......needless to say all fry were lost after about a week ( I am pretty sure due to the coral red pencilfish and the 5 1/2 inch wild discus I have). I planned ...
