I currently have a reverse trio (2m 1f) in a 36x24x12 inch tank with canister filter powerhead, bog wood and caves. despite having things set up like others spawning these show no interest. would moving a pair of fish to fish to a smallr tank or removing a spare male help?

Re: concrete block tank
it is an all glass tank which sat on a base made from concrete blocks, the was a 80cm gap between these pillars, the tank then sat on 25mm poly and 10/12mm ply. The tanki think should have been built on thicker ply and poly and should also have been a double glass base. If i could repair the tank in ...

concrete block tank
recently i suffered a burst 8x3x2' tank which split its base due to poor instalation. The tank was built onsite so there is no option to remove or repair the tank in situ. I am now looking at striping the tank down and rebuilding a concrete block tank with a glass viewing pane using the existing ...

Re: Other fish to breed in a Hypancistrus breeding tank?
Id also be wary of outcompeteing fry as many cats wont compete, L134 i found wont challenge corys for food, i had mine with sterbia when young and they easily pushed them into hiding

small males v's large females
Not really specific species but was curious to see what the thoughts were on smaller males trapping and or breeding with larger females, i appreciate that some sp. females may be larger naturally but am thinking more young adults where there could be as much as a couple inches of difference.

Re: Other fish to breed in a Hypancistrus breeding tank?
i keep some diff types of characins, tetras etc but not fussed on breeding them it was more for some activity in the tank, the additional flow i think could be a prob for some fish therefore limiting spawning success.

All i can say is they are lovely in the flesh!! I find the L no id debate a difficult one as until scientifically described lots of stuff gets lumped and Sold under one No when it can be completly different fish. Any way they are STUNNING and well done.
