Re: oto catfish
It's a fish from the macrospilus/hoppei group. I am unsure how to separate the different species in that group; even, in fact, if they can be separated.
It's definitely not arnoldi , that is the same species as in the Cat-eLog is still called Otocinclus flexilis .
thanks..that narrow it down a ...

Re: Cory ID
Having recently imported 200 of these, I can tell you that in my box, there are at least three different species and possibly four. It's not simply a matter of great variability as there are marked differences between the specimens. I would not hazard a guess on any of them, until they have fully ...

my gut say C. Duplicareus
99% sure.
Black mark is too wide to be Adolfoi and Duplicareus are common sold as Adolfoi.

Re: Small Catfish
Synodontis nigriventris are usually available, small and kind of novel as they most often swim upside down.
If you come across any Microsynodontis or Mochokiella they are interesting as well.
All these have the benefit of being fairly hardy as well.
Birger
did some reasearch on them..not bad ...

Re: Small Catfish
What other fish are you going to keep in your tank?
Until I got to the last paragraph, my thought was some sort of Centromochlus species, but since you don't want one of those, I'm not sure what to suggest... Perhaps a small Synodontis species?
I'm sure others will suggest something nice ...

Ah, that makes sense. It's quite common to have a yellow tinge to fish in the wild which disappears in captivity - not quite sure why...
Most likely because - compared to the wild - our aquarium water lacks something or maybe some things. The big Q is of course what is missing. Is it the water ...
