Re: breeding caves
I have just been debating whether to change my caves. ATM i have 3 small ceramic plant pots, cut in half to make 6 caves. The entrances are approx 100mm x 50mm high. I also have 6x50mm Plastic pipes, which i have covered with substrate. I find the plecs dont seem to like the pipes as much as the ...

Re: Silk Plants??
Maybe i worded that wrong. The "gunge" is jusr fish poo or a bit of brown algae. I have 12 small plecs in there, 30 cardinals, 12 rummynose and 4 small angels.I think i must have the lights on for too long(approx 9hrs a day). my water stats are fine, filtration is at least 10x. temp is 80. I am ...

Re: Silk Plants??
I have 4 anubias tied to my large piece of bogwood and these get covered in brown gunge afte a few days. I suppose silk plants would be much easier to clean than real ones.

Re: How to solve ichthyophthirius multifiliis in L-numbers
Sorry to hijack this post, but i came home from work tonight to see a couple of my (new) small angelfish swimming at the surface and showing signs of ich. On further observations i noticed 2 of my hypans( L340 and L201) with what looks like the beginnings of ich. My question is about the type of ...

Silk Plants??
Hin all. I have just set up a plec tank and tried a few plants over the last 2 weeks. My anubias are thriving(apart from all the muck on the leaves, but i put in some elodea densa and it has gone filthy and rotten looking, full of fish poo, so i have binned it. I was thinking of a few tall silk ...

Re: 2 questions
Thanks for the replies. I have had them for over 2 weeks now. They were the last 2 that Pier had. I have kept and bred tropical fish for over 30 yrs, so i know about allowing them to settle in before disturbing them more by trolling round the tank with a couple of nets. I will try to get some pics ...

Hi all. Has anyone heard of a peckoltia sp "redfin"?. I purchased 2 of these from a local plec specialist and was told they were a new species. I cannot find any info on them but , as they are only about 1.5" atm, i dont know if they will be fully coloured yet. They look very much like L076, but the ...

Re: New plec tank
Thanks for the replies. I know about the size issue with some of the plecs, but i intend to offload them when they get over 4". I dont intend breeding(had too much of that a few years ago with mbuna).Just got back from Pier with 4 leopards for a £10er, which i thought was pretty good. Nipped into ...
