As always Mats makes a good point, sorry should have been more specific. Mopani and Malaysian are easy to find at most lfs. I've used stuff out of the yard before couldn't really say what it is but if u can dent it I've found it doesn't last long. ![Smile :)](./images/smilies/icon/smile.gif)

Normally just needs 2 b a hardwood. If u can press ur thumb nail into the wood and leave an impression its probably not a good piece for the tank

I've gotta say that I like the DIY approach as I just can't ever seem to find exactly what I'm looking for in the stores, and for those of us with multiple tank syndrome (5 and growing) space is always a precious commodity...lol
