Pseudolaguvia austrina

This is the only Pseudolaguvia found in the the Southern part of India!
If you consider their size, You would mistake them for a young Glyptothorax.
They are more than an inch long. Seems to have no trouble taking Frozen bloodworms and Brine Shrimp.

Will try and get some videos for the Cat-eLog soon.

Thanks for the info Ben. I'm surprised that they could survive at that temperature. Maybe something else other than temperature went wrong in my tank I guess.

Sisor rabdophorus

This fish was on my wishlist for a long time and I was thrilled to get them finally. The joy was short lived! Even as they proved to be active feeders, I started to lose them one by one and within a couple of weeks it was a total wipe out. Will try this species again when I can get a chiller. During ...

Sorry about the tags Mat, strangely enough when î used the YouTube tags the first time around, the videos never showed up. There was just a blank space where the video was supposed to be.

Pseudolaguvia sp. fry

Had a very pleasant surprise today morning when I noticed a small fry in one of my tanks containing Pseudolaguvia shawi and Pseudolaguvia ferruginae . Was really surprised since the tank also contains a horde of Danionella priapus and Caridinia babaulti who might have been potential predators. Here ...

My G. indicus love earthworms. They also eat shrimp mix and FBS, I think you can still feed them FBS after soaking them in Selcon or something similar.

Re: Asian catfish from the location of Etroplus and Barilius

You could go for Batasio travancoria as they are found thereabouts and make great companions for the E. canarensis. Rasbora daniconius and Puntius narayani are found in their type locality as well and can be used as dithers. We did spot some Mystus sp. there but I wouldn't hazard a guess as to what ...

Re: Keeping P. virgulata

Based on my experience, you might need to target feed them when you keep them in a community tank such as this. I prefer to keep my Pseudolaguvia sp. with similar finicky feeders like Dario sp. If you don't keep them well fed they won't last long.

Re: Catfish Collecting

Hi Shovelnose,
The canals on the way to Tada waterfalls (Close to the Andhra border) is a good place to collect. We have collected Neotropius atherinoides, Mystus vittatus and a Mystus Malabricus look alike there.
Since you live in CHennai, we could plan a trip to the usual haunts.

Hi Beta, I think Heok Hee has answered your question about the difference between O. pabda X O. malabaricus. I thought as much, SIA regularly gets these fish from Kolkata, and his suppliers source their fish from me. Fish such as O.pabda; Chaca; Hara hara & H jerdoni among others. My e.mail ID is ...

Rita gogra 2.Arius dussumieri 3.Mystus armatus 4.Mystus (?) definitely not vittatus, suggestive to bleekei (?) could Beta send another angle of the shot. 5. Ompok pabda, these fish are from Bengal.
