Watch 'em eat
Really enjoy a good daylight feeding of zucchini to my plecs in my 180 gal show tank...I slice it long ways...stab a fork in it and in it goes. Doesn't take long before they start to emerge from the caves and crevices in the driftwood. Normally the laciancistrus L092 is first then its a free for all ...

Re: Breeding Tanks
IMO it depends on the size of the breeding group, and of course size of adult fish, for example, L200 are around 6" at breeding age, you have a group of 5, they would not do well in a 20 long (30 inch footprint)but a group of 5 L46 would be quite comfortable...regards

I personally paint the three sides deep blue, or black and the bottoms of my "bare bottoms" black...Rust-oleum works well.

your foods don't have to be store bought....my 190's love zuchini(think you call it courgette), yellow squash, canteloupe, cucumber, peas, green beans, romaine lettuce, I think you know where I am going. Bear in mind that they are considered a wood eater so a good supply of wood will keep them happy and ...

Re: Bought these as SAEs ... I don't think so.
Here in michigan the SAE are readily available...so much so that the price has dropped considerably due to the fact that they are now being captive bred, and by a local hobbyist as well....regards Pat

I have a180 gal, a 125 gal, a 75 gal, and a 40 gal breeder....these all have lights, filters (fluval canisters, fx5's on the 2 larger and 401's on the 2 smaller) and heaters...then there is my rack system...6 30 gal longs (36x16x12) 6 20 gal longs (30x12x12) 1-55gal, and 2 10 gals. all these are ...

Re: New L95
nice pellegreni, mine is quite calm and docile....can almost reach in and pick him up...about 7 inches long and robust...for the size they get, they are very docile towards tankmates, so being careful not to introduce them to a tank w/more boisterous plecos is a good idea...Enjoy,

I also agree that its L076, but bear in mind many of the peckoltias are very similar...and even more difficult to identify when pale and stressed

All depends on how you look at it and how much you paid...here in Michigan, the "nuggets" seem to be a little pricier.

Re: Homemade growing tank's height question
I have 4 breeder tanks, 3 @30 gal and 1 @ 20 gal...all at 10 inches in height and have no problems with any of them...they are in a rack, and do bi-weekly water changes...I use these tanks for the reason of space...more tanks on the rack.IMO water changes and vigilance are your best defense.

Re: Royal feeding. when do feed?
not in my opinion...my tanks are all running on Michigan well water...around 7.3 ph...been that way for 5 years...I personally don't think that ph plays that major of a factor...unless of course they have been in 6.0 ph and you introduce them into 8.0 , thats a huge change. I beleive that the fish ...

Re: Royal feeding. when do feed?
There are factors to consider...what are the tank mates? How many royals are there....size differences....genetics...as some are more aggressive than others. I have several different tanks with royals of different varieties...I feed daytime and nightime, a varied diet of mostly fresh veggies and ...

personally I would stick to just the betta...reasons being that 2 gallons is awfully small and keeping any kind of stability would be virtually impossible, also betta can survive in an almost oxygen free bowl...being able to take gulps of air at the water surface.

I have 3 L018 (close cousin) and I have noticed the difference between the 3 of then...especially at feeding time...It looks like the dominant stays dark while the more submissive seem to lighten...even turn almost white...when they seperate their colors somewhat darken...but not always...ENJOY

Re: Pleco trouble.
I would suspect that its the 114's, they are getting to the size where they are getting more territorial towards anything else in with them. Although a 220 is a large tank, I would suspect the 114's are going to start beating each other up also, which may lead to losses, which nobody wants...might ...

Re: Royal Pleco Rescue = HELP
personally I would do the water change and continue medicating...IMO 48 hrs is not ample time, to start seeing results yes, but not to completely irradicate. As far as inducing him/her to eat...as it progressively heals you will notice it grazing more, and if you have wood in the tank its quite ...

Re: Panaque questions
how often are you doing water changes? 7.0 is not soft water, it is neutral, which should be fine, for most of my pleco tanks are 7.5 and my fish thrive. As for the panaque you speak of, the LDA31 is more "challenging and Elusive than the clown...mine only emerge from the wood pile at feeding time ...
