Re: Why are my new S. petricola so shy and hate light so much?
It seems with Synodontis lucipinis if you give them continual cover that creates shadows, they will generally be fairly active even if the lights are on. If all they have for shade are separated caves they will probably be more nocturnal.

What do you do about evaporation?
I think over filtration and low bio load are why your tank is doing OK. It would not surprise me if with that stocking, low feeding and filtration if you could do water changes every 6 months and maintain decent water quality indefinitely. If you are stocking(and ...

Re: Moving House & Huge fish collection
If all possible having an overlap where you could set-up tanks or storage on the other end will be a big help. One thing is the fewer fish you have to deal with, the easier the move so any fish that can be sold or given away will make things easier. Obviously there are some that can not be replaced ...

Re: 2014 All Aquarium Catfish Convention
I have offered to being as many different L Number Pseudacanthicus juveniles as possible to show in David's room. The main concern is setting up tanks and heaters. I do not want to overtax anybody but driving in from Michigan takes some time. I want to at least bring LDA07, L114, and L600 to show ...

Are you spawning them in tap water or do you use a mix of tap/RO water?Shane wrote:Paul,
Your fish above are actually Farlowella vittata. Your water conditions are more than adequate for spawning. Mine spawn like clockwork in much harder water with a higher pH.

Try a 75% or more water change. It maybe also that they are spawning, but eating the eggs.

Re: pH Advice
For C. paleatus your best bet would be to see how they do with your water without changing the parameters. If you get into the more challenging cories, you may need to use a mix of RO water or rain water as mentioned by mchambers.

About an inch(which is 2.54 cm) is a common guideline in a lot of fish clubs in the US.softak wrote:I have some green laser cories, just interested at what size is it OK to sell them.
