Re: Jim "cbudz's" RTCxTSN hybrid
For an easy, year round supply of worms, I would suggest starting a vermicomposting system. If done right, it doesn't smell at all. I've known people keeping their vermicompost inside their apartment.

Or fish that has been frozen. From what I understand, very few if any parasite found in flesh survive being frozen.

Re: Confirm a Chaetostoma milesi ID please
Any advice on the keeping of this specie? From the info I have found on the web it doesn't seem to hard to keep.

Confirm a Chaetostoma milesi ID please
Could you guys confirm the Chaetostoma milesi ID on this fish? They were pretty cheap so I couldn't resist, but the lfs wasn't certain of the ID. http://lh4.ggpht.com/_qp2O-0voK1k/TNBTnhdxkUI/AAAAAAAADvI/C2UguomXZy4/s800/IMG_1118.JPG http://lh3.ggpht.com/_qp2O-0voK1k/TNBTtLTKXwI/AAAAAAAADvM ...

Help me idetify my wiptail
Hello again, I have a wipetail catfish. After looking at the Cat-eLog I'm pretty much certain I have a Hemiloricaria, maybe Hemiloricaria eigenmanni ? I believe it's a male because of odontodes/ruffness on his back. http://lh5.ggpht.com/_qp2O-0voK1k/TJTdIY9DfNI/AAAAAAAADr8/asSaPxHCkgA/s800/IMG_1079 ...

Re: Hybrid Loricariids (split from "Bought as L173..."
But I think what you are trying to say is that the species concept that is used in science isn't reflecting "true" species if the fish can breed together (and have fertile offspring), and thus Hypancistrus zebra and Hypancistrus debilittera - despite being very noticably different, are the same ...

Re: plant pot death trap for cory -eek!
I came very close to loose a large female botia loachata that got itself stuck in the drainage hole of a clay pot. The only reason I saved it is that she made quite a racket trying to get out of there.

Re: Ancistrus cf. cirrhosus ??
I think it's a very young . I think the pointy nose is more a deformation of the shape caused by a bad angle to the glass when the picture was taken.

Re: what is my ''red jewel ancistrus''
Thanks for the advices,
I'm new in this parts so I don't know the reputation of the people around here. Sorry if I was too sceptical. Frankly what threw me is that I had a response so quick and with so few words.
Thank you Silurus for your prompt help.

Re: what is my ''red jewel ancistrus''
True, I must have missed that one.
I guess I'll have to see how it grows up for the final identification. I was kind of hopping somebody might have already come across that comercial name.

Re: what is my ''red jewel ancistrus''
The colour doesn't seem to match. Does this specie have many colour variations?
If needed I can try to take more pictures.

what is my ''red jewel ancistrus''
I bought 2 of those ancistrus but I can't find their true name anywhere. Hopefully someone will be able to identify it. http://lh3.ggpht.com/_qp2O-0voK1k/TFszKEZnUhI/AAAAAAAADnY/kLzebnZ5lCE/s800/IMG_1044.JPG http://lh5.ggpht.com/_qp2O-0voK1k/TFszKaLMvXI/AAAAAAAADns/6GBkIy_8d9E/s800/IMG_1047.JPG http ...
