hi
i'm looking at setting up a s. petricola (only) tank. from what my reading has shown, i think 200l would be adequate? i would also be getting a 200l sump. i will not be overstocking. i might start with 4-5 petricolas and see how it all turns out.
i've been trying to search for various setups on ...

those fish are pretty entertaining to watch, very active. not sure whether i saw a petricola in the shop, i think it went for 32 (which is ok i guess IF the real deal).
MatsP - how was i supposed to know, they all looks same to me haha![Big Grin :d](./images/smilies/4.gif)

i see the logic in that. after all, they are a custom tank manufacturer so for them it shouldn't be a problem...

hey
the tanks is from aquariums.ltd

looks like a good size, but you're right, the braceless will have some drawbacks

Re: Syn Petricola Setups for Breeding
if you go to youtube, put in "petricola" can you can see some of their set ups. from what i can understand, i believe it replaces cichlid eggs with its own like the cuckoo birds. just briefly, they seem to use bowls w marbles and an inverted flower pot on top. more tha that i do not know :/

Re: tanks suited for catfish - any recommendations?
think i found a great tank measuring 140x60x45. i won't mention the manufacturer, it's a shame it's expensive though :C, but braceless etc. i guess that's irrelevant really. one last query, 45cm (height) should be sufficient for most catfish, correct? taking into account the formula as before the ...

great. they do sound reliable and easy to maintain. (or easier rather). what about diffuser? i guess that's out given it's shape. just thinking of how Haavard Stoere has set up his circulation pumps (incredible tanks btw), he's made some sort of a housing underneath and put a few filter pads. i ...

nice thread! nothing like going to your "LFS" (or in this case, not-so-local fish shop) to get some inspiration.

while we're on the subject - how do these compare to the eheim circulation pumps? they're about the same price, but koralia has incredible output in comparison? the only disadvantage(?) is the fact that you cannot add a diffuser.
thanks

tank circulation
just wanted your expert opinions on the hydor koralia series for tank circulation. i understand it's used in marine tanks. it has very good output, the only disadvantage i can foresee is aeration and some trouble attaching it to the end of a filter?
thanks

many thanks for your input (and moving the thread to somewhere more appropriate). the danios and barbs will be relocated. just wanted something basic to go for initially. i suppose i should try some bristlenoses to begin with. i'll have a look at their profile and compare to h.zebra.
thanks again

hi
i'm a novice aquarist at best. i have a juwel 125 running on a eheim 2078. currently the tank houses some hardy low maintenance fish like danios and tiger barbs (i know, not very demanding). i want to make the leap across to catfish at some stage, and am currently just doing "research".

having had a look at most common brands, they seem to have the "tall" tanks. are there any good custom manufacturers in the UK that you can recommend... i've spotted - http://www.aquariums.ltd.uk/ and http://www.aquarist-classifieds.co.uk/php/detail62_62785.php plus a few others... can you "trust ...

Re: My Shrimp Only Tank - Cherry and CRS
hey
damn. not nice.
if you had 40 shrimplets you certainly know how to get them breeding, do you need anything special for them to start breeding...? i think you could easily sell grade S shrimp back to your LFS? can you recommend any sources on the basics of shrimp keeping?
thanks!

tanks suited for catfish - any recommendations?
apologies for asking basic questions
after doing some reading on the forums, i've noticed that some catfish keepers prefer a bigger footprint for their tanks... i have a rio125 at the moment with external filtration.
are there any specific brands that you can recommend? i've also noted ...

new on the forum, thought i'd start my first thread...

with your expertise you should start breeding grade S CBS and CRS. have you ever given it a go? they're a little expensive, but if you have a good setup, should be ok, and with your experience should be "easy"?
