Re: Akysis Vespa
I normally would agree with you, having had a cherax destructor before who enjoyed culling my livebearers for me, but the dwarf crays get only about an inch and a half max. But after seeing how much he enjoys burrowing I've decided to move him into a spare plant grow out tank. I think he'll be happy ...

Akysis Vespa
So I picked up a little fish today labled as a Orange Micro Bumblebee Catfish with the scientific name of Akysis vespa, though I can't be certain s/he actually is one, though the picture does look pretty darn close. That being said I'm trying to figure out the best tank to put her in, as I can only ...

Yep, I got them. I've some very happy fish and one slightly less disgruntled crayfish.
I might have to purchase more food from you now that I know who likes what.

Real African Bumblebee?
I bought a catfish today labeled as Microsynodontis batesii and I'm just wanting to make sure it's really that species. I don't have a picture of mine at the moment, as he dove for cover the second he had a chance. It does however look similar to the auction pictures of this Wild Bumblebee from the ...

Some of the Freeze Dried and Egg products? Chopping up live earthworms is a bit... messy.

Black Eyed Bristlenose Male
Well yesterday I ended up taking in a very healthy albino bristlenose male. I thought at first he was a normal albino until noticing that he didn't have the typical eye - his is black, not red as in my others. Just felt like sharing my new boy. I'll get pictures of him later. Right now all I see of ...

Re: ID This Large Dark Cory
Thanks. It at least gives me an excuse to get more cories. They did get an adult male bristlenose in from the same person I believe. He's absolutely gorgeous and coming home with me on Thursday. Just as soon as his q. tank is cleaned up a bit.

Re: ID This Large Dark Cory
Similar, but he doesn't have the metallic sheen, it's almost more of a vinyl/shiny latex sheen. Also his colors are more richer, er, more brown. I would say like a dark brown on cream.

ID This Large Dark Cory
So I felt the need to poke into the local farm feed store and check out the little 12 tank fish room they had. That was my first mistake as I came home with something they sold to me as a generic Corydora. All I could get from them was he had been brought in by a customer that didn't want it anymore ...

ADA Soil with Cories
Just wondering if anyone has ever used ADA Amazonia with Cories? It seems like it'd be a good safe substrate. I'm starting up a planted soil-based tank and would love to have an excuse to get more cories.

Help ID this Rineloricaria
Well I've had this catfish for sometime now and I honestly don't quite know what he is. It was sold to me as a Rineloricaria sp. but after viewing several of those species in the cat-elog I'm pretty sure he isn't one. Of course he could also be a she. The closest I could find that matched him was ...

Would Celestial Pearl Danios be too small to share a tank with the Banjos?
This almost makes me want to take University Ceramics again just so I can make my own caves for the fish.

Re: Banjo Catfish in a 40gal.
Thanks for the help. I do have one more question. I like to do Moonlight/Nocturnal Lights for my tanks and I want to know what color would be best for the Banjo, blue, white, or red? Just starting to learn how to wire LEDs (For toys, which is quite a bit different than a fish tank) and I might make ...

Re: Banjo Catfish in a 40gal.
Ah, well I do have a ton of play sand, not sure why as I don't have kids, so I could use that. Would hand/target feeding be helpful with the Banjo? I have a smaller tank with African Dwarf Frogs that require hand feeding, as well as some bettas that are on a diet.

Banjo Catfish in a 40gal.
Well after a recommendation from my doctor, I'm getting a 40 gallon fish tank for Christmas. What I really want to get in there is a Banjo Catfish. Is this tank to small for one? I do have a 55 gallon tank though it isn't up in running. (Though it should be within a year. Waiting on repainting ...

Re: Sera Food??
I use several of the Sera food products, including this one and my fish just love it. I have tried several other brands and the only other one that my any of my fish will take is Omega. It's a bit of a drive to get to the LFS that sells Sera, but the price seems reasonable to me. Other than that I ...

Odd Corydoras Panda Behavior
Well I've searched online and on the forums to see if there was an explanation for this odd eating behavior I noticed today. I recently added frozen bloodworms to the food menu for my fish as I have "acquired" a new (to me) tank of ADFs (African Dwarf Frogs). Since it was impossible for me to break ...

Feeding the catfish and not the betta.
So due to random circumstances (I never knew a 4 year old could be that destructive that fast) I have a female betta currently residing in a catfish holding aquarium. It's roughly the equivilent to a 20long (It's a plastic snake holding bin. Long story how I got one.) and currently holds some panda ...

Re: Homing a Longfin Albino BN
The meat-heavier ones get sinking catfish pellets and sinking carnivore wafers. Otherwise I feed algae tablets, cooked dehulled peas, and cooked cucumber. I have other vegetables available I'm not sure what would be safe for them. Also I'm not sure my lapine master would enjoy sharing her dinner ...

Re: Homing a Longfin Albino BN
There's a 4ish inch, possibly bigger, Rineloricaria of some species. It was sold to me has hasemani but doesn't look like one. Also there's a small at the moment group of four Corydoras panda , 3 regular and 1 longfin. I've been adding fish slowly to the tank as I QT and find ones I like. I will be ...

Homing a Longfin Albino BN
So I recently (by recently I mean Thursday) purchased a longfin albino BN. S/he's total length is about an inch, maybe a little more. "Alice" as I've come to call it as you can imagine is quite small. Which brings me to my question: How long will she it need to be before I can move it to my 55 ...

Re: Redoing a 55 Gallon
I might then layer the soil under the flourite mix. So as for the whiptail do you think he'd be fine recieving the diet that the pandas get? The only "live" food they recieve is the chopped earthworm, as I know for a fact what's in/on them. All other meat foods are freeze dried. The sand most likely ...

Redoing a 55 Gallon
Well, this is my first post here and after reading several other topics here I've decided you guys would be the best ones to answer my questions. I'm currently getting ready to re-setup a 55 gallon aquarium as a natural planted aquarium. I've decided that it will have a three part substrate. First ...
