Hi guys, cant believe this is happening. I moved a pair of 333 in a new tank. This tank was matured first and I am using filter with active bio media (from old tank). Last water parameter check was 0 ammonia 0 nitrite. Approximately 2-3 days after I moved them into this tank, I notice skin ...

help on l333 spawning trigger
Hi all, been trying to breed my biggest pair of 333. This pair has bred before in someone elses tank (previous owner) I hears it is important to bring the temp down to at least 24 degree celcius with a large water change. I did about 60% water change 2 days ago but the temp did not go down to 24 ...

Help one of my 333 is wounded
I just notice this. It seems there's a patch of skin missing. Can anyone tell me what possibly happened? I was suspecting territorial/cave dispute. From the picture you can see there's a little patch missing below the dorsal fin, the peeled skin patch can be seen from the left side of the fish to ...

Sounds horible I don't know they can think to trap another male. Do u think iit would stress them if I check those caves regularly cus sometime I can't see them as they hide in the cave most of the time.

I think they are settled now...It was fun at first watching them brawling over a cave lol but then I was worried. The smallest male is now occupying a O tube cave just above the disputed cave.

Re: 2 male 333 fighting over a cave, what should I do?
Thanks for the reply Mat. Its actually the first time I see them fighting and usually they have already occupied their prefered cave. I have 5 caves in the tank. Its just today the smaller male tried to invade the neighbour cave occupied by a bigger male. Although unsuccesful, he kept on trying to ...

2 male 333 fighting over a cave, what should I do?
I just saw 2 males of 333 fighting over a cave. Would this hurt them in anyway? What should I do? Been watching them for 5 minute and they've been smacking each other. I grabed my camera with flash and shot the flash on them to make them stop. They did stop for 1 or 2 minute and start fighting again ...

live earthworm or blackworm for hypancistrus pleco?
should we feed em live worms at all?
Has anyone tried feeding live worms for their carnivore hypancistrus particularly l333?
I found that blackworm (different than earthworm) has 66% protein content. Is this good for breeding food? Or too much?
Thanks very much

Ok will try them. See if my LFS has frozen mysisdconnors wrote:Oh, one more food you may want to try is frozen mysis shrimp. All of my Hypancistrus love them. They are larger than brine shrimp, but smaller than krill. I feed all my fish a little bit of frozen mysis and frozen bloodworms everyday.

What size of cave ideal for breeding?
My largest pair is 11 cm male and 9 cm female. What size of cave ideal for them? I have 2.5cmx3.5x15cm (HxWxL), is this too small? The male is now in this cave. But I feel it's bit too tight.

If your tank is 48"x18"x18 it is actually 67 gallons and some change . Ah Ok, thought 1 us gallon was 5 liter As far as spawning your plecs goes Hypancistrus are pretty easy really. Give them clean water adequate food then bump your temp to 82-84 degrees farenheit (27-29c). As far as current goes ...

How it is in relation to the curently pregnant female? She might not be heavily pregnant, it would still be another week before she lay the eggs. But I am just worried this sudden change in water could freak her out and die.
