Once again, thanks for the replies.
The fish is according to the seller captive bred.
Imagine I will have to buy a wild one to be sure.
Thanks

Re: synodontis Granulosa
Thanks for the reply, not sure about the dark area on head, looks like it is the head if the fish.
A pity, I guess the search goes on.

Re: synodontis Granulosa
Thanks for the reply, I had the pics on my phone to compare- specifically the pics of your youngsters. The one from above which shows the head in relation to the body was really useful as your fish is in proportion (hope this makes sense), the ones in the shop appeared to have a head which did tot ...

synodontis Granulosa
Went to look at some youngsters recently, approx 6cm long, however I did not purchase one as had concerns about their parentage, spots and head shape did not look right (to my untrained eye) at all. They were pretty fish but obviously not what I want, and not a risk I am willing to take. I just ...

Re: Syno-proof heater installation?
If you have an external filter, how about one of the in-line heaters that you could attach to the return pipe. The heater would be outside the aquarium so no danger of fish burns.

Re: Synodontis id
Just be aware that there are some very realistic hybrids out there - i mean a gnats whisker away from the real thing. Hey why don't you see if you can make a PC day out? It is great meeting up with other members & discussing what we see. Alternatively give me a shout as i have a bit of spare time ...

Re: Synodontis id
Will try and get some better pics. Have just started keeping Syno's again, I had nigrita's,flavaeteniata and saved up all my pocket money for an angelica when I was a kid. Never realised it was such a minefield with mis-identified species, unknown species and then of course there are the hybrids ...

Re: Synodontis id
these are all lucipinnis; the first 2 are juvies, the last one's an adult lucipinnis is a very very variable species; but the best way to spot it is the relatively "short" body and the way larger and smaller spots are irregulary distributed on the body the real petricola is much more elongated, it ...

Re: Synodontis id
I'm particularly interested in the last one as the head shape is quite unusual Can try and get some more pics if it helps, they are not particularly settled at the moment as the tank they were in started leaking last week, so had to quickly buy another and move them over. Cheers for reply Rich [Mod ...

Re: Synodontis id
Cheers for replies. They were all together in a tank lableeed as Petricola. Bought them last October so were not part of the current "batch" they have at Fishinc. When I bought them I thought there were 2 different species, the one I labelled Lucipinnis I have 2 of, they are really "grey" in ...

I pop in there regularly so will post on here if he has anything interesting in (although I am not that knowledgable). I have just set up a Tanganyikan tank and have bought all my fish from there, including 4 petricola's (think 2 are lucipinnis). Probably the best aquatic outlet we have in S Yorks ...

Welcome to Planet Catfish - i'm gonna pop over tomorrow to stick my nose in![/quote] Thanks, had had a super Granulosus in which I was tempted by, my tank a bit small so have 4 petricola's (I think). Re: SYNODONTIS ZAMBEZIENSIS FIND ?
Was there at the weekend, did not notice this fish, it is worth noting their website is often really out of date. They had multi's dhonti's and petricola in stock. Ring them up ask for Lindsey, he is a knowledgable bloke and their fish are really good. If they still have the Zambeziensis in stock ...
