Re: RTC question
My tank is just open at the top. I held my phone right above the tank to take the pictures. My Filter IS a Bio-Filter. It has 4 different stages, one of wich is a chamber that holds around 15 bio balls. I check my chem levels almost daily and make sure any cat poop is taken care of right away. My ...

Re: Help!! Megalodoras Uranoscopus not EATING?
The only way my Oxydoras niger would eat a snail is if it crawled into it's mouth, he is the laziest fish I have ever seen! LOL My NH3 level is right at 0.01, and after a MAJOR water change the Nitrite is at 0ppm, and the Nitrate is at 20ppm. I took a sample of water into my LFS and had them check ...

Re: Help!! Megalodoras Uranoscopus not EATING?

He does have a few tank mates, but they all seam to get along well. there is plenty of places for him to hide, he tends to hide with my Oxydoras niger , who is around 7 inches. My Megalodoras Uranoscopus is around 11 inches. The tank has a canister filter which is ...

Help!! Megalodoras Uranoscopus not EATING?
Please help me. I have a new Megalodoras Uranoscopus . I have had him for about 2 weeks. He was eating as soon as I got him home. He was eating 'Hikari's Massivore Delites', Sinking Shrimp Pellets, earthworms, and a bunch of snails. Then he just stopped eating. Any Ideas? Ph is 7.4, temp is 78*F

Re: Tachysurus spilotus
Sure Mats. This little guy is a lot of fun. He has grown about an inch since I have had him. He loves to hide, but likes real fast water. He likes bloodworms, glassworms, and shrimp pellets. For a while I had to crush up the shrimp pellets for him, but not any more. he is in a tank that is kept at ...

Tachysurus Spilotus
I am having very good luck with this little guy. He has grown almost one inch since I got him about 6 months ago. I have been feeding him bloodworms (Frozen) and sinking Shrimp Pellets. I have aslo seen him eat "Massivore Delite" by Hikari. I break these up to very small peices. I have him in a tank ...

Re: Cetopsis Coecutiens (Blue Whale Catfiish)
This is a very new addition to my collection. I really want him to thrive. Unless I can find an answer to the questions about beef heart, I think I will stay away from it. There is plenty of other foods that are readly available for him to chow on.
Thank you so very much for your help and advice.

Re: Cetopsis Coecutiens (Blue Whale Catfiish)
Beef heart is a controversial food in the sense that one group of people think it's pretty close to perfect, and others think it's bad. It's good because it's rich in protein and such. The contention is based on the fact that fat from warmblooded animals is solid at the temperature that the fish ...

Re: Cetopsis Coecutiens (Blue Whale Catfiish)
I am aware this is not a fish to be trusted with others. Right now he is in a tank with a couple of Placos and one Sturgon. I have him in a 39 gal tank for now, but am prepaired to give him a 90 gal on his own when needed. The tank he is in now has a filter for a 100 gal on it, so there is plenty of ...

This is got to be the laziest fish I have ever seen. he is a vacumme cleaner when it comes to eating, but he sucks the food to him. I rarely see him out and about at night, however he will let me pick him ...

Re: Got this guy but can't ID him
this is based on what exactly? Why isn't it a Sperata aor I'm not saying you're wrong, I just curious about what made you decide it's Sperata acicularis. I believe it is a Sperata acicularis due to its coloring. My little guy looks just like the pics on line. As for how big it will grow... Well ...

Re: S.A. Red Tail Skin Issues
[*]You do realize that this fish will grow ENORMOUS, _and_ live for about 50 years, right? [Assuming of course it's kept in good conditions and a large enough heated pond - it probably won't survive more than a few years in something you'd call a "tank"]. -- Mats[*] Yes I do Realize this fish will ...

Re: S.A. Red Tail Skin Issues
I had him in a 75 with a canister filter, but moved him to a 55 with an off the back filter. I moved him due to the total number of other "dirty" fish that are in the 75 gal, like gold fish and koi and the other cats. He is currently in a tank on his own other the the feeders. I have him on small to ...

S.A. Red Tail Skin Issues
I was givin an 8 inch S. A. Red Tailed Catfish. When I took him in he looked really healthy and was a big eater. Today I noticed that his skin seems to be sheding or has a slim coating on it and he is off his food. What can I do to help him for I do not want to loose this great fish?

Hello, I just got this cute little guy. I know that he is a Tachysurus Spilotus. I can't find any info online about this species. Re: can anyone tell me what this little guy is?
Yes, I got this little guy from my local pet store, ANIMART In Madison, WI. The Fish Department Manager, Frank is A.W.E.S.O.M.E, although he gets frustrated that his suppliers make up names for some of the fish he gets.

can anyone tell me what this little guy is?
I got this little guy about a mounth ago. I was told he is a Speckeld Cat, but that his Species was Ictalurus Punctatus, which can't be seeing how that is a Channel Catfish. His body looks more like one of my Black Bullheads, and he likes to hang with them.
