Re: Pseudo. apithanos issue
how old/large are your whiptails? assuming they are wild caught, is it possible that it just developed a fungus, not related to any fish being aggressive?, certainly you have enough room, and my opinion is that the ph is not a factor..... in fact probably good for them. I had one of mine die ...

My Whiptails Bred, what are they?
Hi there: I have a couple whiptails and came home to two of them getting busy in a clay tube... They kicked the green eggs all over so I siphoned up what i could and put them in a fry keeper, treated with m.blue and waited... most fungused, and i had almost given up, but glad to say a few hatched ...

What about, using the same hardware store scenario.....having them cut some clear plexiglass , similar dimensions as your glass cage, but much lighter, won't break and although will scratch, if you slip a piece of newsprint between sheets and slip the whole thing into a large zip lock bag it will ...

Gosh.....
40+!!
I have caves purchased from most convention type vendors, a local guy made some for me and I probably have an additional 2 dozen home made slate caves.
I also purchased about 50' of various diameter bamboo, that I will be cutting up various lengths to give my fish options.

Re: These came into LFS as julii... What do you think?
Ok guys.... so I took your two ideas and put a comparison together of the three fish..... My opinion, is that looking at the unidentified fish's body shape (noting that it is unclear the age of the 3 pictures) is more similar to agassizii than ambiacus, but he still looks a tad longer in body than ...

also, is the fact that the patching is larger than what I have noticed on agassizii that have been pictured?

These came into LFS as julii... What do you think?
I was at a Local Fish Store a few weeks ago... the sales person told me he had some nice julii's in stock, but
when I looked at them I was pretty sure they were not.
I have not been able to identify them so far...
any ideas???
for reference, they are about 4cm.
thanks

juvenile L-46's What food is best
Hello: I have been fortunate enough to have my zebras finally breeding, and rather than pulling fry out of the cave, I have left the second batch in with dad... the first batch was small, and I was able to pull 3 babies from the cave. I have them in a frykeeper in the main tank, so filtered from the ...

Re: pigmys? young corys? maybe aspidoras?
Thanks Jmho.....
I concur and thought that, but wanted to see what others thought.
you never know what the wholesalers send as labeled....
but I was surprised my LFS didn't realize it...
bottom line for the stores, is as long as they can sell them they don't really worry about it.
