No, this was the only one in a shipment of about 20 San Juans. I think it's a female, but I'm not sure.

Do you have a link to pictures of them or info?

Thanks!

Gold-Stripe Elegans?

I found a contaminant in a shipment of San Juan Corys that appears to be some varety of C. elegans , but differs in a few ways. Like the Gold-Stripe Bronze Corys, mine has a bright gold stripe running down its back. It's visible even from across the room. It has a narrow stripe runnning down the ...

A pair of male Endler's Livebearers should be fine in there as long as there are some live plants. They are very colorful, hardy, and interesting to watch. They should also be fine without a heater as long as the tank won't get below about 65 degrees.

You might try a docile arachnid, such as an Emperor Scorpion or a Rosehair Tarantula. These are actually great pets for kids as they tolerate being held and even petted (though not too rough as they have fragile bodies), and they are extremely easy to care for. Several scorpions can be kept in a 10 ...

When I was telling Silent Doh to get 6 zebra danios instead of 4, I asked him, "Who's the aquarium expert?" and as I expected he said "You." But then the lady rudely said she was.
That literally made me "laugh out loud".

I don't really mind mixing plants from different continents, but mixing different fish iriitates me (but I'll do it if I find something really rare - then it doesn't bother me so much). I have, however, grown exceptionaly intolerant of artificial plants. Something about them just makes aquariums ...

Working at an LFS, I've seen plenty of people who claim to have kept fish for a long time, but don't take care of their fish like they should. I would hate to imagine what their early fish-keeping days were like... So I'll just go ahead with what I did when I was about seven or something. I think it ...

The female is an L182 and should not be mated with your male. I have two of them, both of which I found as contaminants in shipments of Common Bristlenoses. I have not seen them on any of my availability lists at work, so I have come to the conclusion that they are generally not imported ...

I don't speak Portuguese, so if somebody could translate this it would be great. The clamped fins sounds like a water-quality issue. We need to know more about the water parameters to see if there is something wrong with the water (ammonia, nitrites, nitrates, temperature, and hardness). Also, what ...

I have two L182s, and your fish looks nearly exactly like them. It is possible for fish stores to make mistakes concerning where their shipments come from.

I would say that unless you personally collected the fish in Peru, or someone you know did, that these are really L182.

Are they becoming more common? This is the first one I've seen all year, but at the LFS where I work, we got about 10 of them throughout the year in 2004.

I found contaminant in a shipment of Clown Plecos today... He is orange with black stripes in the back and black spots on the head. He gets about 20cm long I think... Corydoras delphax or ambiacus?

Quick question... Is the cory I bought as "assorted spotted cory" Corydoras delphax or Corydoras ambiacus? There are several varieties of both it seems, and I have seen specimens of both species that look similar to mine.

If by "kill" you mean "outgrow", then yes.

He is going to get on average about 16" long, though we have one at work that is literally pushing 18". A 120 gallon tank is the absolute minimum size I'd keep a common pleco in permanently.

Defintely a common pleco. They are bred in Florida by the thousands, hence the name you bought it under.

It appears to indeed be a Queen Arabesque; they are such a common species that they are rarely confused with anything else by fish distributors.

Get some more photos once the fish settles down though, just to make sure.

This pleco was caught from a river in Queensland, Australia, and apparently they are very numerous in that location. This specimen was frozen before being photographed. Any ideas on what it could be? http://community.webshots.com/photo/388597061/388597673RGFukB http://community.webshots.com/photo ...
