Re: Multiple Aquariums: 10 Gal to 160 Gal!!
Here are photos of the aquarium stand: It has been drilled to mount lots of equipment. When I had it running as a planted discus tank this cabinet housed: one canister filter, one CO2 tank with regulator, two Coralife Day/Night Power Centers with surge protection (four small holes on each side), and ...

Multiple Aquariums: 10 Gal to 160 Gal!!
I am selling most of my aquariums! All of them are in excellent condition if you don't care about some limescale or coraline aglae. If you do care about that, it will come off easily with 1:20 solution of vinegar and water. These are located in Florence, SC and they are available for local pickup ...

Re: L128 compatibility and other questions not yet answered
A couple of further questions about L128 that I did not find on the species index page. 1) is it possible to sex a 1" specimen, and what are the distinguishing features? 2) minimum aquarium dimensions for one (may get a pair if it would work)? my current setup is only 29LX12W (inside dimensions ...

Re: how to lower pH to blackwater levels and keep it there?
well it seems that what I really want to do is to set up a separate breeder tank and make it a true blackwater tank. Somehow it never occured to me that in order to get to a true blackwater environment I would not be able to keep aquatic plants (or at least, to fertilize them) because the GH would ...

Re: how to lower pH to blackwater levels and keep it there?
well I am well aware that the volume of water is inversly related to how difficult it is to maintain any pH level, but no, I was not aware that a pH level of 5.5 would not support plant life. I had looked up pH ranges for the plants I have (at www.tropica.com) and found that they should be able to ...

how to lower pH to blackwater levels and keep it there?
All of you guys and girls who have experience with blackwater species, here is the question of the day for you: how to acheive a ph of about 5.5 and keep it stable? I have heard: peat filtration, indian almond leaves, pressurized CO2 injection, etc. tank is 2 gal nano, planted tank HOT 3 stage ...

Re: breeding L182 brstlenose tips please blackwater tips
I just found this thread and want to ask, now that it has been about a year, how is your breeding project going? I have some thoughts about what was said on this thread. it is correct that one German degree of hardness equals approx 17.90 ppm. Keep in mind that GH test kits mostly test calcium and ...

Re: L128 compatibility and other questions not yet answered
thanks Mat, from what I have read so far it seems that i should go ahead and put him in my discus tank, with ph of about 6.0-6.5. My original plan was to put him (1") in a 2-3 gal nano tank until he got bigger. my original statement about ph was incorrect. My target range is actually 5.5-6.0. I have ...

Re: L128 compatibility and other questions not yet answered
thanks for the advice guys. apistomaster: I am actually unfamiliar with any of those medications except in their common names (sorry). Hitch: you are saying that this pleco will not eat my RCS? I was not sure if plecos and ornamental shrimp would be ok b/c I read that some are carnivorous and the ...

L128 compatibility and other questions not yet answered
I want to know three useful pieces of info about L128 blue phantom. There is one I could buy that is about 1 inch long. I have read on this webiste that they get just over 7 inches long and I am assuming this to be correct. I have searched the site and have not found this information yet. 1) is L128 ...
