Ok, that's good to know! Thanks for your inputs.
My friend is also following this post, he will take a look at them.
What's weird, they were received all together, all identified by the exporter in Brazil as LDA33.

LDA33 SnowBall Successful Breeding
Hello, I had the chance today to go visit a friend that was successful with the breeding of his LDA33 Snowball pleco ! Since we don't see often pleco of this genus breed, I thought it would be good info to post on this forum. He bought this group of LDA33 approx. 2 years ago, they were approx. 5-6 ...

You can also look at ALITA.
I have a AL-40 and I love it. It's been running for a couple years (4 maybe ?), no problem so far, quiet and give as much air as the first day !

You have a lot of info here :

I personally prefer sand, if you go with geo/cory, that would be best.
Some wood/roots, they like to have a lot of hiding places and their own little territories.

Re: L273 - Breeding group, what mix?
Like most pseuda, they grow quite slow, faster than L24/L25, but slower than L114/L160 for examples. I have 5 at this size, 3 red and 2 yellow, territorial and a bit shy. I'm not sure you will be able to tell M/F at that size ? Maybe start with 6 and separate them as they grow to only keep the best ...

Re: L600, L273, L25
I don't have any experience with L273, sorry... it's on my wish list ! But I have 2x L25 (6 and 8''), 6x L24 (3x 3-4'', 1x 6'', 1x 9-10'', 1x 11-12''), 4x L114, 2x L160, 1x L65. Both L24/L25 have similar behavior, L25 are more shy, but like to fight like most pseuda. L24 are more outgoing/active ...

Thanks again for all your help. Yes, it could really be Chilodonella. I stopped using Seachem Paraguard, it didn't help at all, or very little. After some reading on Chilodonella, they say it can be cure with medicine having formaldehyde. I had at home some Hikari Ich-X with formaldehyde in the ...

Re: Sick C082
It could be Chilodonella ? I did another water change today (30g) because the water had a weird smell. I still put some Seachem Paraguard in the tank (30 mL - 6 caps - half dose). It has malachite green in it and should be good against Chilodonella. http://www.fishyportal.com/cgi-bin/pub/diag?c=v&id ...

Re: Sick C082
The tank have been set up for a few months (october 2013). The filters were from other tanks that were running for a couple years with established colonies of bacterias (except for the K1 filter, only 2 months old). I always use Seachem Prime for my tap water, generally 1mL for 5g. I have been doing ...

Re: Bare Bottom vs Sand
I would say it's a question of preference. I have some friends that got tired of gravel/sand and now only do bare bottom setup. As for me, I have both. My 75g tank panaque is bare bottom. Never tried with sand, but had gravel before and it's was a mess cleaning all the poop. If you have pieces of ...

You will find more info on breeding L25, it should be similar with L24.
Amazonas magazine first volume had a nice article on L25.
I have 3x L24, but two small at the moment (6", 9", 11").

There was a discussion on the forum a couple of years (3-5 years) ago on the "best" wafer.
Members posted the ingredients of the wafer they were using, from what I remember, the winner was the "Wardley Algea Disc".

Sand look the best. At first I didn't put a sponge on the canister filter intake (Rena XP4) and it got a little bit damaged, but still working fine. I placed a sponge after and no more problem. It also depend on the size of the pleco, when they fight, sand move a lot ! Here is a picture of my 125g ...

L200 are more active than L114, but I still prefer pseuda. It also depend on you tank and population, L114 are carnivore (not predator) and L200 omnivore. L114 are more territorial if you want more than one pleco in your tank. L114 grow fast compare to othet pseuda. I bought one at 1.5" and 2 years ...

Small L114 are very shy.
They almost only go out at night during feeding time.
But it get better when the reach 4", they are less shy.
Mine are 7-8" and not shy anymore.
