Re: dry goods, filters, RO units, etc
Your Fluval U2 (not 2+
) are a bit pricey for second hand. You can get them brand new for about £17 posted.

Re: pl*co basement
Fair comment bud. I used to live, up until a couple of months ago, in Kent. I know the water is pretty darned hard down there, but I still didn't need RO for breeding or otherwise
Does RO actually make that much of a difference? I must admit though, I never tested the nitrate content from source.

Re: pl*co basement
Just out of interest, why will you be using RO water?
I've never needed that for Plecs. I know several Discus breeders who use it but no catfish/plec breeders![Confused :?](./images/smilies/icon/confused.gif)

Re: Properly controlled and reliable heating.
I have something similar to control my heating.
I use West 6100+ 1/16 DIN controllers with PT100 probes and Hydor Theo heaters.
I have the relay outputs connected to a 240v SSR which provides an isolated supply to the heaters themselves.
I was lucky enough to gain possession of 20 odd of these ...

Re: new sand and tank. When to transfer cories.
Corys need a fully matured tank to thrive and be happy.
I'm not sure I would be putting them in straight away unless you are using mature media and 50% matured tank water.

My new L204 Flash Plec
Isn't he just gorgeous? He/she's about 1 1/4" long so I'm guessing about 5 months old or less. Not mega cheap but I just couldn't say no

Re: WANTED - CORYS
Just got back from Aqualife. I was truly impressed with their range of Tropicals
I came back with their last 5 Schultzei (labelled up as black aenaus so a bit cheap at £2.99 each lol).
I also brought back a gorgeous juvenile L204 about 1.25" long. Not mega cheap at £12.99 but worth it ...

Thanks for those Mats
I'm still fairly new to Lancashire so I'm finding aquatics shops as I travel around at the moment.
I will definitely take a look at those two places![Very Happy :D](./images/smilies/icon/biggrin.gif)

I agree with Mats ID. He looks identical to my pectinifrons.
If you don't have the space to house him long term, I would be willing to give him a good home

4ft (4x1) and (2x2) tanks. Lancs, UK
Hey all,
I have a few spare 4ft tanks I need to get rid of.
I have two divided into 4x 1ft cube sections and two divided into 2x 2ft sections. All are 12" depth and about 14" height.
The 4x1s are ideal for Bettas and the 2x2s are ideal as breeding/grow out tanks.
All tanks are base drilled and ...

I have always kept Green Stripes at around 24 to 25 celcius without any issues ![A OK!](./images/smilies/icon_thumbsup.gif)
You will find that they are a lot more active in slightly warmer water![Very Happy :D](./images/smilies/icon/biggrin.gif)

Re: Which One Is Better Between Sand & Small Gravel !!!
I agree with the 'where to buy' sand issue.
I have always bought children's playpit sand from somewhere like Argos. Less than £3 a bag and each bag contains enough sand for a decent layer in a 4' tank.

Re: some advice for quicker weekly maintennce :P
When I upgraded to larger tanks, I decided to make life simple.
I bought Fluval tanks which happened to be bottom drilled.
I added a 'Tee' to the intake hose (inside the cabinet), with a changeover valve. To this I fitted a flexible hose which runs through the house wall to an adjacent external ...

Re: Which One Is Better Between Sand & Small Gravel !!!
If you prefer to opt for sand, I have found that I can have quite a deep layer of about 1" in my Cory tank without having gas pocket problems.
There is one reason for this - my faithful army of Banjo catfish  They are constantly creating sandstorms during lights out, constantly stirring ...
