Another L66 ID

Got four pieces of this hypancistrus at 4inch sizes. I suspect they're L66 King Tiger. Any chance they are L236? They were actually labeled as such when the original owner bought them 2 years ago.

These were taken a few minutes after being released into their new home, they may still be showing ...

Thanks MatsP.

You're right, the more beautiful the fish the higher the price it fetches. Plecos I notice are also prone to trends, especially here in Asia. For instance, L114s were common here a few years ago but lately they have been replaced by the LDA07/L600, which people may find to be more ...

Pseudacanthicus

Lately on a German aquarium site and on some Japanese pleco sites, there have been mention of an L25 Pseudacanthicus "Sao Felix" and an L24 "Rio Tucurui." Pictures show that both these fishes are redder and more colorful than the normal "L24" and "L25" from Tocantins and Xingu.

Sao Felix and ...

Titanic Pleco...

Bought 2 titanic plecs from a supplier recently, both around 3.5 inches. One looked like a normal titanic, but the other had bigger, more scattered patches. The eyes look different also. They don't look like the eyes of the baby titanics in Aqualog.

Is this L273 sp. variant or just a normal titanic ...

Keeping and Breeding Chameleon Loricaria?

Has Pseudohemiodon apithanos been bred in captivity? What are the special requirements, if any, for them to spawn?

I keep them in a bare bottom tank at the moment. I understand they are lip brooders, is fine sand essential to breeding them? The 50gallon tank is a "loricaria" tank with twigs, pots ...

Loricaria spawn

I discovered one of my common loricaria (microlepidogaster?) guarding a clutch of eggs inside the PVC tube last night. I didn't take too much pictures because the flash might spook the fish and affect hatching :D

This is the second spawn. Ten babies from the first spawning survived.

The big plecos were housed in 2 big tanks that were at least 100 gallons each I think. Yes they were quite impressive. Never seen such a collection before.

I was also wondering how people could get tanks of 100 gallons or more in their houses in Hong Kong because the living space is so limited ...

Hong Kong Shop Pics

Took these pics from a Hong Kong shop on a recent trip. Many of the pseudacanthicus and panaques were about a foot or more in length. The shop owner gave permission to post these pics on the net.

I currently have 7, haven't really noted the male to female ratio. Yes they are very active, always swimming around. I have a group of cory brevirostris also (seems I don't have males), and I noticed that some males of the septentrionalis are chasing the female brevirostris. They look so different ...

Corydoras ID

Hi guys!

I have no idea what these cories are. It's very hard to take pics as they are always moving.

Hope the experts can help in the ID. Thanks! :D

They are currently in a 75 gallon with panaques and 7 cory aenus "fluorescent green". Do they have a chance of breeding in this setup or should they get a dedicated tank? Water flow is moderate. The tank was intended for the panaques. There are wood decorations and stones.

Is this Rineloricaria Morrowi?

I bough 3 of these. This is the shot of the male, with bristles all over the body. The 2 females do not have this growth.

Sturisoma breeding failure

Last Sunday morning , I discovered my sturisoma to have laid eggs. They were sold here as barbatum but Iâ??m not sure what kind of sturisoma they are. I have 4, and they are around 6 inches. They used to occupy a 50 gallon tank with assorted plecos but they were transferred to another 50 gallon ...

I currently have 4 L351s, all approximately 7cm excluding the tail filaments. I haven't noticed the u shaped behavior in feeding as they get mostly spirulina and other types of flake food. I feed them bits (pinches actually, I donâ??t know if they would qualify as "chunks") of frozen fish but I have ...

Papa Panaque changing color

For the past 2 weeks, this L90c(?) has been changing to a lighter color, somewhat goldish, even in daylight and not only during nighttime. Is it stressed?

Contrast that to the bigger Papa Panaque which retains its dark colors. They are in a 75 gallon "panaque" tank.

Thanks to the experts for the informative replies.

What would be a reasonable maximum size estimate for the L-351 in the aquarium, if it doesn't grow as big as the L-350? Erwin, at 15cm, does the L-351 still retain its leopard pattern or does it become black all throughout?

Peru has some ...
