Re: ID this Thorny Catfish
but the OP told in his first post that the fish in question are 2.5" TL; that's about 6 cm or so. which is small..... Opsodoras ternetzi reaches past twice that size, so it shouldn't have small round eyes at 2.5" the ones in the Clog are bigger than 2.5", especially the last one and likely the first ...

I think HH is right; the one Opsodoras in the Clog without a pointy nose is
these look a lot like that species
except for the eyes.....the eyes look smaller and round, not large and oval as in O ternetzi

Re: ID this Thorny Catfish
the downward saloping snout is more like Nemadoras, for the rest it's tricky Opsodoras have pointed noses that turn upwards. maybe wai till it's settled over sand in a tank and wait till it has it's regular color? some of the Opsodoras and Nemadoras species have unique dark patches or stripes in the ...

if you like the looks and behavior of Pangasius, you could go for Schilbe intermedius this is a very active cat, but it's not stressed.....it's visible all day, does great in a group of 5 or more, is tough as an old nail and can be kept with a long list of other fish it also reaches 1 foot max, most ...

I think the problem is twofold first; regardless of the ownership by Zebrapleco; Planetcatfish is a LOT more well known than Zebrapleco.com...... so it's unfair, yes, but understandable Zebrapleco cannot help that, it's just that PC has a worldwide following, so chances of encountering someone from ...

if they are the same species, then the intermediate forms are not hybrids, but just crossbreeds between 2 varieties, but as a species still purebreed.

Nice cat but when you buy such a thing, in time you'll have to fire up the barbie and invite the rest of the family for an 'all you can eat catfish chow".... these things really grow big, quite a bit larger than the tankbusting TSN or Red Tail...... adult length can be between 5 or 6 feet! luckily ...

Re: do common pl*cos normally go off veg/fruit somewhat w/ag
you cannot compare this
Hypancistrus zebra is a carnivore, so feeding it courgette is feeding it the wrong food....
it's like feeding lettuce to a cat.......
no wonder they rejected that or months
the Common Pleco should eat about anything, but strange stuff they need to get used to.

usually injections are done in the dorsal or caudal part of the body, in the thick muscle tissue when injecting in the organs there's too much damage caused by the needle, but injecting in the muscles is safe same with humans; you might have a organ related disease, but they will never stick a ...

Re: Tridensimilis brevis
I think you can keep them without a host, but then you must feed often and only meaty foods of the frozen variety they will not accept any flake. bloodworms and the like is the best. they're not plancton feeders; their mouth is designed to rasp, so they can't feed on BBS..... but they do accept ...

I know little about Zebra plecs, but 2 things I heard again and again from people who breed these first: keep em warm! these things need a lot more heat than any Ancistrus. second: they really don't clean. it's a meat eater......and the meatier the food, the better. ;) now if the peeps who breed ...

Re: Tridensimilis brevis
Tridensimilis is definitely an oddball and one of the very few parasitic fish that can be kept, but it's also 1 for the species tank; this fish cannot be trusted with any other fish; small o large sooner or later the other fish will be harassed and mucus and skin will be rasped. they're not as bad ...

Re: Synodontis decorus or a hybrid?
if the upper barbels are branched, then I agree, you likely got real ones
not all decora get the striped dorsal, but when they mature the caudal should be striped.
I've seen hundreds and hundreds of hybrids and never saw one where they managed to get the upper barbels to branch.

when they are very small, the bars in both tail and dorsal haven't formed yet, but I tend to agree with Marc this is sadly one of those species that has been disappeared from the hobby in favor of cheap fakes that are sold under the true name. there is one thing that hybrid decora's almost never ...

but if the 2 in front are man made hybrids (bred in Brazil) then the 2 in the back can be heterozygotes of the parent species used to make the two parents up front, or even homozygotes of the grandparents things can be quite confusing once species are mixed because often 'looks' skip a generation ...

you got it for free?
then it's a bargain.
it looks pretty good
if you plan on setting up a Rift Lake tank (Malawi, Tanganyika), this catfish will do just fine.
likely, given the fact that 1 of the parent species is likely granulosa, it will be quite visible and able to cope with active cichlids.
