Thanks! He was just a little guy when I picked him up in December, but he's grown a lot since then. This is actually only the second time I've ever seen him eat, so I thought it was kinda cool.
There's also an S. angelicus in the tank, but otherwise no other synos.

Synodontis eupterus video - eating
Hey all, I just took this video and thought some of you here might be interested in watching it. It's my Synodontis eupterus coming out and eating bloodworms. About 10 mbs, and one minute long. http://www.muridae.org/fish/cats/synodontis/eupterus.WMV Over the past few months that fish has ...

My LFS has a tank full of these fish, and I was really curious about them. I didn't really get a good enough look/don't remember their features well enough to compare them to pics in the cat-e-log, and a search of the common name on Google brings up one link, to the Zang Exotic Fish catalog, with a ...

H.N, nice tank! I do have lots of wood in the tank and that gets eaten, it's just that the other fish tend to chase Rexy off before he can get enough. Mean fish. I guess Rexy is just particularly a shy guy, and hasn't quite adjusted to life in captivity yet. Maybe he'll stick up for himself better ...

In my personal experience, my angelicus (Angela, naturally) gets along just fine with almost all of my other plecos EXCEPT for the royal. Angela can be pretty territorial towards the other fish, but is fine and doesn't bother anyone as long as no one bothers her or tries to steal her little hideout ...

P. nigrolineatus tankmates
I picked up a large (8" or so), plump royal (Rexy!) about a month ago, and to make a long story short, this fish is way too shy to be in the community tank with my other fish. He began losing weight and his belly even started getting concave. I thought I was going to lose him, but after moving him ...

Okay, I'm aware that this picture is laughably bad, but my camera batteries keep dying and I can't get a better one tonight. I will buy batteries, then try for something better tomorrow. I suspect that this particular fish is rasping on one of my spotted raphaels and a positive ID would really help ...

Do you guys get giddily excited when you pick up cool new fish? I am like a kid in a candy store when I go into a fish shop, and when I can find something I want, well, heh. I love the look of tiger shovelnoses and the other larger pims, but I have nowhere to house such a large and active fish ...

You know those UVB bulbs that they sell for reptiles? I accidentally put one of those on my goldfish tank, and the algae growth exploded. There was lots of slimy green algae everywhere. I bet if you used them to light your tank, you'd have lots of algae for the plecos to eat. This is the kind I mean ...

I agree with chupapiedras that we shouldn't rush to judgment on people who are just starting out in the hobby. Forum admins who want to keep Bagarius yarelli in Manhattan apartments are another matter. They should be locked in fetid closets and fed exclusively on applesauce. And corn, hey. Wouldn't ...

Night time tank lighting
Okay, so I've mentioned elsewhere that I'm going to be setting up a 125 cat community tank this weekend. It's going to be in my bedroom and I'd like to have some gentle lighting at night, dark enough that the fish will feel comfortable coming out and swimming about, but bright enough that they'll be ...

Interestingly enough, my angelicus is also a pretty peaceful fish. It's in a shamefully small tank with a eupterus while I set up the 6' long tank. The angelicus is a bit more active than the eupterus, which occasionally annoys the eupterus, but they haven't bullied each other and everyone is eating ...

Silurus, do you know everything about catfish? :D Don't think I've asked a single question yet that you have not been able to answer. Can't find too much good information on this species, other than that they stay pretty small and like cooler water temps. I guess I will set up their own species tank ...

Okay, id'ing this fish may be impossible, or may be very easy. I stopped at PetsMart today and my husband found a tank of teeny tiny itty bitty really very little -- are you getting the picture? -- cat fish. They were marked "stone cats" and were $1.49 each. They didn't know the latinate name, but ...

Personally, I don't like housing any fish that is longer than the tank is tall or wide. So I wouldn't put anything with a maximum size over 10" or so in a 55. You would definitely need a much larger tank for shovelnoses, but you could comfortably keep some nice sized plecos in a 55, assuming the ...

Okay, I am moving soon and will be setting up my 125 gallon tank, finally yay! I am planning on having it as a cat tank, and wanted to make sure that the species I have will get along with each other. So far I've got S. angelicus, S. eupterus, and H. brachysoma all living together in one tank, and ...

Synodontis angelicus?
Picked up this guy at the LFS last night, and am trying to get an ID. I am thinking Synodontis angelicus ? The fish is about 4 inches long, give or take half an inch. I tried to get a picture of the mouth, but the fish, of course, wouldn't cooperate. http://www.muridae.org/fish/cats/synodontis ...

Pseudodoras niger -- whether to buy
I LOVE Pseudodoras niger . There has been one at a local LFS for a while now, and I make special trips just to admire this fish. It's still little, maybe 10" or so. I really want this fish. But I just can't decide whether or not I should buy it. I've read absolutely everything I can find on the ...

Very ill Liosomadoras morrowi -- help?
Hello, I yesterday bought what turned out to be a very emaciated i Liosomadoras morrow . However he is ...
