Apreciate that but that's 3 continents away lol. So I'm guessing they're wild imports from Peru right? I might talk to my local guy and see if it ever pops on his lists.

Thanks! Not sure where you are located but Global Fish Co in NJ has gotten fish from this genus a few times that i can remember, some very large specimens in the past.

I have 3 species of hoplo in my planted 75. Very pleasant, no aggression whatsoever. They need sand though, they like to dig pretty deep.

I got these two awesome fish this weekend, so far they're settling in well and I'm trying to figure out the best way to have decor arranged to accomodate them. I believe they are both female Spatuloricaria puganensis , if anyone can confirn this or had a better idea of the species please share ...

Sexing megalechis picta?
Acquired a Megalechis picta not too long ago, it's around 3.5" now. I'm a little confused regarding sexing. I know the males develop large orange pectoral fin spines and have more closely positioned bony plates on the underside, but I cant tell if mine is male or female. The spines appear to be ...

So, I've had an L350 (Peckoltia pankimpuju) for a couple months. He arrived a really great specimen. Beautiful, full odontodes, very active and hungry. His odontodes shed when I got him, but soon after they seemed to start growing back and his tail streamers had some new growth. Now, for the last 3 ...

Thanks guys, yeah he's definitely got some size to him. They initially told me he was 7" minus the streamers but he's really like 10"-11" without them, lol. 15" TL. Definitely the biggest fish I've had.
Tried some fresh shrimp last night. He was loving it.

New Peckoltia pankimpuju. Awesome fish!
Just got this big fella from Aqua Imports. What a cool looking fish. He seems to be settling in well and loves Fluval Bug Bites and some different varieties of Hikari cichlid pellets.
He has a couple little sores so I dosed with Prazi just to be safe.
If anyone has some input on caring for this ...

Thanks for the reply. This is reassuring. Filtration is two fluval 406's plus a small surface skimmer but I may add an air stone if he doesn't improve. Hopefully the wayer changes will help him acclimate over the next couple weeks.

I picked up what I believe is a male L350 yesterday. He's in my planted 75 right now. Really awesome looking fish, about 8" SL and 15" TL.
He's been acting odd.
Since I got the fish, he's been breathing more quickly than his tankmates, which include several mid sized cichlids and other, smaller ...

Awesome, thanks for the tips! I added a ton of caves and crevices, and he seems to have staked out an area for himself that's pretty far from any of the other plecos' caves. My pH runs about 6.8. The water in the tank stays pretty soft as well. Here's hoping he does well!

Hello all,
I managed to snag an L56 today. Only a little guy. About 1.5" SL, and still grey all around.

I just acquired a small vampire pleco and realized how slim it is after adding it to my tank. This is the first loricariid I've owned that likes a meatier diet (tankmates are an L037, L239 and some whiptails). I've tried sinking carnivore pellets as well as Vibra bites (this is what the lfs was ...

L037 Honeycomb pleco growth rate?
Hey all, been a while since I posted here but figured I'd ask. I picked up an L239 and an L037 in July for my 38 gallon setup. The L239 is still about the same size (~3") which seems reasonable, but the L037 has only grown maybe a quarter inch in the few months since I've gotten it, and it's only ...

I realize it's a bit of a long shot to think that I can get an i.d. on this little guy without knowing exactly where he came from, but maybe someone can help me out. Pterygoplichthys joselimaianus.
a.k.a. L001.
Pretty standard care, and they grow to about a foot.

I was at the lfs the other day and saw some zamora wood catfish, ende up getting one. I figured I'd barely see mine once he was in my tank, and so far that's held true haha. So, a while back my clown plec in my 38gal stopped eating and got really skinny. I moved him to my 10gal setup and he got well again, then moved him back to the 38 and he got skinny again. So he's staying in the 10.
I also had a BN in the 38 who was doing very well while the clown was going through ...

Otos are quite small as well and have spines so if the raph is gonna eat tetras he'll probably eat otos too. Plus otos could get lodged inside him. I'm not sure what you could put in there with him though... Personally I'd try to find a bigger tank.

Chaetostoma stress coloration?
A teacher just picked up a Chaetostoma formosae for a tank at my school, and the fish was the usual brown when it arrived.
