Re: L046 (plecos) and volcanic rocks (lava)

Hi,

About 2 weeks ago I bought some volcanic rocks with holes big enough for my L-260 to fit into. In my tank I also have normal clay tubes (closed at one end). I have never seen so much action in my tank! The L-260's LOVE the lava rock holes. I haven't seen any injuries either. They like them I ...

Re: L-260, but male or Female???

Hi,

I wish I had photos of the other male as a comparison, but he won't come out of his hole. His pectoral odontodes are much bushier and he also has longer cheek odontodes...
What makes you so sure the one in the pic is a male? I have also read that it's possible that females have a white stomach ...

L-260, but male or Female???

Hi,

This is one of my L-260. We always thought it was a male, but recently we got 2 new WF L-260 (male and female) who have a lot more Odontodes than my one, making me think that I do perhaps have a female.
My L-260's all use caves, so I don't know if I can use this criterion to tell if mine are ...

Re: H. debilittera?

Thanks Mats!

I didn't get a good pic of the dorsal fin, but its triangular with horizontal stripes. The Tail doesn't have much of an indent (have no idea if the descriptions I am using are right!) if this helps.

Anybody else got an idea?

Thanks,
Kiera

H. debilittera?

Hi,

yesterday I was browsing the catfish section at my local pet shop when I found this guy/girl amongst a group of not so similar looking catfish. In the tank he was almost black & white, in my photos he's quite pale...
I think he might be a Hypancistrus debilittera, but I'm not sure. The guy at ...

Re: tank recommdations please.

Hi,

we also have the Juwel Rio 240L (I also just bought the Juwel Lido 120!) and we're very happy with it. The Flaps on top are made of Forex (a compressed foam plastic) and are very flexible. We also recently had the older model of the Rio 240L going in the cellar with the old flaps with broken ...

Re: 14 cory died in 2 days +photos

my boyfriend just read this post and remarked that Bactopur probably killed the bacteria in your filter, thus the nitrate peak. Perhaps it would be best to use some filter material from another tank to get your filter stable - until then you will have to change the water quite often to minimise the ...

Re: 14 cory died in 2 days +photos

Sorry, I can't get over the amount of chemicals you put in the water!!!!! We don't use anything, and our Discus, Corys and L-Numbers are fine. If the water where you live isn't great, get a active-carbon filter and use natural substances to soften the water (Peat for example). To protect your fish ...

Re: Newbie from Australia

Hi!

I'm fairly new here too, I come from Melbourne but I live in Germany. What's the matter with your Sterbais? My boyfriend just bought a group of wild Sterbais, so I am interested in hearing about other people's experiences with them.

I think, there would be many more forum users from German speaking countries (Switzerland, Austria, Germany, ...), if there wouldn´t be such a lot of German aquaristik forums yet, even some special catfish-forums (e.g. http://www.l-welse.com. , http://www.welse.net , yahoo catfish-mailinglist ...

My aquariums

Hello!

This is my first post here, so I'd like to take the opportunity to introduce myself and my tanks. My name is Kiera, I'm 23 and I live in Germany. About a year ago, my boyfriend (a discus fanatic!) introduced me to his 714L South-America tank at his parents place and soon convinced me to get ...
