Is my L260 gravid or dying?

I have 2 L260's in my tank and have had them for quite some time. Its a large tank (120g) with a bunch of plecos ...

L075, L124, L301, LDA02 availability?
I am searching for a pleco to add to my tank, specifically one that reaches a modest size.. 6 inches would be the maximum really. I would like any good recommendations, but while searching I have found this pleco: http://www.planetcatfish.com/catelog/loricari/peckolti/195_f.php it is peckoltia ...

I called up Aquarium Center and sure enough they do have zebra oto's there for $10 each, I guess I will have to consider carefully and see if I will make the trek up there. Its funny and ironic that yesterday my gf and I went looking for newts and ended up at Pets, etc lol. I was floored by their ...

how many plecos/fish is too many? help me please:(
I am wondering how many plecos/fish are too many for my tank. I've got a lot of thoughts about this and I need someone that really knows what they are doing to set me straight. I need to know and learn the reasons, if I am or am about to overstock. I have stocked my 120 gallon tank with the ...

pleco farmer, quite interesting to finally run into another pleco enthusiast in the metro area!! Thanks for the tip I will give these guys a call. I am wondering if there are any LFS's around here that carry exotic plecos that are reputable and don't charge a fortune? I have failed to find any in ...

zebra oto's?
I am thinking about keeping oto's for the first time in a small planted tank, because of their size and nature. I looked these fish up on the cat e-log and I see that there is a zebra variety that really looks a lot better than the others IMO. Is this rare or difficult to get, and should I expect to ...

that is an interesting suggestion, I actually have an lda08 in my 120g right now (the only pleco I have atm actually!) and I had no idea it was from this area. It sure is a fun fish to watch, perhaps I will get another one for this tank, or capture this one and put it in the other tank when its set ...

small pleco native to brazil/peru/colombia?
I am looking to set up a small (likely 15g tall) tank. I am trying to make this a tank that gets all of its species from the same native environment, to try to recreate nature at least somewhat faithfully in my bedroom :) So far I'm thinking of going with 6 or so neon tetras, plants with probably ...

Well I have had my pleco for about 4 days and he's rarely out unless it is pitch dark in the room and tank both, how long should I expect until he will feel safe enough to be out of the cave often? Also, I've read around and seen some people talking about 'MOON LIGHTS' or something, is there special ...

Lighting for pleco tank? Help Please!!!
I am new to plecos and just got my first (a common pleco) a few days ago. He has a rock that is a nice big cave and he sure loves it in there, but I don't see him come out ever really! I have been offering algae wafers (small pieces of them) but I'm nots ure that he has even been eating them, until ...

verification of ID and how can I get this up on cat e-log?
I found this absolutely beautiful picture of a queen arabasque (L260) over on fishforums.net and the author of the picture said it'd be great to have this go up on the cat e-log, I don't see how to submit it so I guess posting here is the best I could figure out ;) http://fish.orbust.net/forums ...

Question about common pleco *or* Good Beginner Plecos?
Hi I have been surveying common plecos (hypostomus plecostomus) at my LFS's, and while I thought at first that they were ugly and boring I am now starting to feel otherwise! I think some of them are very beautiful and this is why I have a question. About half of them I see are boring looking and ...

Tank Setup with MANY *EDUCATED* QUESTIONS
I have read a ton of books from the library and done dozens of hours of research on the net, and I am getting ready to set in stone what I want for my aquarium setup. There are some questions I have, that I can find no answers to. Some of these are not catfish specific, but I feel this is a forum ...

pimelodus pictus bothering other fish?
I have read somewhere that pim pictus can bother other fish (i think they said clown loaches or angelfish, both of which I am planning to keep) with their long whiskers. I got the impression that they would rub/poke these fish accidentally during 'dark time' with their whiskers and spook/annoy them ...

I was just about to post with a similar question, so cool topic here! I am very new to keeping fish, and very interested in keeping catfish; but there's a lot of questions I have. newbie here, I need help!
Hi I am new to this board and new to having fish as pets. I recently started fishing for catfish, and became very interesting in them. I think they look so cool! Anyway I was doing a report for one of my classes about catfish and I ended up on this site, and was extremely surprised to hear there ...
