Hey, Thanks for the replies. I was told that they had bred as a group (9 of them) but that they did not know which specific plecs had bred. I am going to give it a miss anyway, I am not able to afford that sort of money to set them up and not have them breed. :? I think I might try and breed other ...

Thanks Lisa, I looked at the article in Shane's World and I found a few interesting facts. I am thinking of getting 2 females and 1 male. I am not sure about the basics though like what size tank and layout. I have seen different information ranging from bare-bottom with some rocks to sand, rocks ...

Oppertunity to purchase a group of breeding L46/L98 plecs
Hello, As you can see from the title, I have the chance to buy a group of breeding zebra plecs. There are 9 of them and I have been told by the seller that they are willing to split the group. I cannot afford to buy the whole group as much as I would want to but I could perhaps buy some of them and ...

Sturisoma Catifsh - Regal Whiptail?
Hello, When I got my biggest tank I got some fish with it. The seller described the fish as "sturisoma catfish (regal whiptail)". I have looked in the cat-eLog but he doesn't look like the whiptails on there. He's about 5" long but thin and looks very much like a stick (his name is Stick! LOL), He ...

What immediately pops into my mind is hillstream loach. Maybe, but they don't like too warm tempatures. So, it depends on that too. I have kept Hillstreams in a tropical tank, but no higher that 75F, they are now in a coldwater tank and seem much more active. http://www.loaches.com/species_pages ...

Everything I have read about them indicates otherwise. Dick Mills says "movement of water through the tank" is a special requirement. I know it's not quite the same thing but I have read that they like/need a strong current and mine certainly enjoy it. I was worried about putting my glass cats in my ...

Is there more than one kind of gold nugget pl*c?
I am not asing for me but someone is planning on getting a King Tiger and a Gold Nugget pl*c and they asked about them on another forum to see if they are ok in their 50US gallon. Is it me or do I remember reading on here that there are more than one king of pl*c called a 'gold nugget' and that they ...

Hello, I have been using PC for a wee while and I use it as reference when telling people off for having a common pl*c in a 5gall goldfish tank. LOL Anyway, when I do my good for the catfish community I use this site's cat-eLong as reference and I would like to be able to give them a link to ...

Brucilla's grand, thanks!! Not sure on the male/female front still as he/she doesn't have the spikes on the tail to be male or the fat belly to be female! I am saying he for now as his head is very big! I have just moved him into my 70UK/84US gallon tank so I haven't seen him much but I know where ...

Hello, I got 2 of these guys from my lfs today. They called them "Black Stripe Catfish", have you heard of this catfish? I have looked through the cat-eLog and the best match I have found is Corydoras schwartzi , but there is no information on them, it does look very like them though. I will ...

That has to be one of the most mangled catfish names I have ever seen. Got a pic instead? LOL, I know! The guy doesn't have a clue. I have put up a post asking him for a pic or to at least describe it's colouring etc. I am worried about the plec, on the message board lots of people have plecs, don ...

Anyone heard of a "Tidour Plecomousa"
Hi, I am a memeber of a few forums and on a goldfish one someone is keeping what they helpfully call an 'agae sucker' but he's now said it's a "Tidour Plecomousa" ir something similar. I did a search for "Tidour" but didn't get anything, so I thought I'd ask here rather than look through everything ...

Corydoars julii and corydoras leopardus - one and the same?
Hello people
I know that the Cat-eLog has these as 2 different species but I was talking to someone who reckoned they are the same and they scanned a book showing this. I have looked around the internet and I am getting the 2 different views.
Ideas?

Ohhhh It's those little spikes, or hairs as someone else called them! Brucilla is about 2" SL and I have had him ...

Hi, the triangle you're talking about, that's called an adipose fin - both females and males have them. The "hair" we all talk about is very conspicuous in my picture. regards Klaus In that case I am still clueless to what I am looking for. What was it that Easy highlighted exactly, mine has a bit ...

Where are whiptails from?
Hello, I am hoping to get a new tank and there are some fish with it. This includes what the seller described as a "sturisoma catsifish (regal whiptail)" that is 5" long but .5" wide. I can't find information on whiptails in the cat-eLog (just pics) so I don't know where they come from to ask about ...

Thanks Barbie but I did try searching and I couldn't find anything that has descriptions of what 'odontodes' are. Everyone seems to know, except me!
