LFS in Richmond
Ok, know I asked about the DC area. But I'm going to be in Richmond for 4 days, so I have to ask about them there too. Anyone want to give some input on the shops there? Thanks.

LFS in Wash DC area
Just wondering about some of the shops in DC area. I didn't want to get off topic with the convention string, so started this one. I think an index card won't be able to say much. I believe, and Paul can correct me, that the OCA asked for $10 to post, and the person had to be registered. Most had regular paper size pages (11x8) and a couple had 2 pages. That size allowed people to list the fish they had available. First you ...

But if they would be in the same location naturally, they usually have differences so they would not mate. Something keeps them from being attracted to each other - the size, colors or behavior do not match up. When we take one type from one stream, and introduce them to another from another stream ...

Platys are generally the same fish, man has already modified for different colors, fin sizes and body shapes. Did you get your fish from the wild, different streams or rivers? Plecos have very similiar body shape, but are unique. It would be similar to breeding an bald eagle with a golden eagle. You ...

I know about the cave and size, was just interested in what other materials, or how others made them. Like I said, I'm making slate caves, but will probably add others types with info given. Better chance of success, I think. A couple of speakers at the club (Sally B) would offer many types to get ...

Zebra pleco spawning caves - question
Have looked, but would like to hear more on the what people have used for caves for breeding the zebras. I am building slate caves, but would like to give them choices. Look to the group for ideas and experience. Hope, you don't mind another zebra topic/post. Thanks.

Pictures not being viewed - the red x
I am haiving a problem viewing the pictures on some of the posts, just get a red 'x' in a box. I don't think it's my PC, as I have the same problem when I tried at other locations and PCs. Is there a setting or software that I need to install? I do know Microsoft has a page on it in their knowledge ...

No tank? How about a bucket, or some other container large enough to hold the rock(s). Of course you still need guppies or other fish. Goldfish or native fish from area streams and ponds will work too. But you need to know if they are healthy. And if you buy them new, they need to be quarantined, or ...

Sorry for not playing any old rock :) but I just soak them for some time (a week), this will allow salts or other types of disolving chemicals to be released. Change the water (daily) to help. Then if not sure, I would try the rock in a tank with some 'test' fish (like feeder guppies). I know that ...

I was at the Perfect web site (http://www.perfectomfg.com) and in their aquarium section they list a 265 dec. - demensions are - 84x24x30. Not sure what the dec. means. They have one at a LFS near me, it's setup but would look better at my house.

I have Syno. multipunctatus, they cleaned out the snails in 2 of my tanks, and I plan on trying them in my 90 gallon. I don't know if you can use them, as your tanks mates are larger types, and the synos I had that worked, were under 3 inches at the time. Unless you have the larger fish housed in ...

Not searching for specific info, and search works to some degree, as I was choosing to look for zebra pleco info at this time. Is there a quicker way to get to a certain page in the forums? Wanted to go through forums to check topics, but not wanting to go through them all at once. So I would get through 20 pages in a specific forum, such as - South American Catfishes (Loricariidae - Plecos et al. When wanting to start ...

I use both types, depends upon your needs. Powertec is quick and simple to clean, and you can change half the filter media, without stopping the filter. I use a PF300 on a 75 gallon tank and the plecos in there seemed to be more active as it really makes waves. I don't use the noisey bacteria tank ...
