Re: BN Pleco Adults & Fry - Local Pick up only, NoVA

I was sold them as dwarf, but being far from an expert they may well simply be regular BN plecos. I could try to measure the adults, but am somewhat certain they are not 5" and nowhere near 6". Either way it is not like I am asking a premium for them, based on a claim that they are dwarf plecos.

BN Pleco Adults & Fry - Local Pick up only, NoVA

I have the following that I need to sell locally: 2 x female BN plecos ~20 BN pleco fry These are the dwarf variety and only grow to approximately 4" I have a male as well, that the females had been breeding with regularly (spawned typically every 2-3 weeks). However, I don't have the space to take ...

Losing Peppered Cories - Not sure why

Over the past few weeks I have begun losing peppered cory cats from my tank, all other fish are acting normally, but I am slowly losing cory cats. My tank has remained the same for at least 2 years, and has been set up for over 3 years. The only recent changes in the tank are the addition of some ...

Re: Ancistrus SP. L279

Next time I speak to the breeder I will try to find some information about where he got the parents from, the only other information I have at the moment is that the adults only grow to around 4" instead of the 5" of common bristlenose. Either way, will try to find out some more information. Also ...

Re: Ancistrus SP. L279

I got mine from a breeder, will try to find out some more information about where the parents are originally from, but do know that he has been to Peru collecting fish.

Re: Ancistrus SP. L279

The thing that makes be believe they are L279 is that if you look at the picture here http://www.planetcatfish.com/images/full/loricariidae/ancistrus/sp(l279)/1.jpg see the white markings on the tail fin? mine have those exact same markings. I can't get those markings to show up yet in my pictures ...

Re: Ancistrus SP. L279

A couple pics of the male, and one more of the (possible) female. I checked against the pic of the L279 on here, and they look identical. Hopefully once they are settled I can get some better pictures.

Re: Ancistrus SP. L279

Thought I would update this with some pictures. The pics are not the best, but the fish is still somewhat shy as I have only had them for a couple days. I have a male in the tank with a good set of bristles, and am hoping this one is a female. The male is far more shy during the day, but out and ...

Re: Ancistrus SP. L279

The ones common to LFS' do not have an L-number, but it's listed on this site as Ancistrus cf_cirrhosus . I have no experience in keeping L279 - it comes from the Peruvian part of the Amazon/Maranon river system, and I'd expect it to like the cooler range of pl*co temperatures - around 25'C/77'F. I ...

Ancistrus SP. L279

Can anyone tell me the requirements of the L279? Are they compatible with a regular BN pleco (not sure on the L number, but its the ones typically sold by LFS)? In a 29G with a single angel, and a single BN pleco how many L279's could I add?

Thanks.

C114 and Ehrhardti temperature requirements?

I am looking at getting some new cory's and have a source for the above fish. But I am struggling to find very much information as to what type of temperature they prefer. My tank is kept around 78-80F, and so I want them to tolerate this level of temperature. Also, if anyone has any images of these ...

Re: Peppered Cory Eggs

Comparing my eggs to the picture Martin posted, mine are infertile. They had also all turned fuzzy by the time I got home from work, shame really, would have been a nice way to re-stock! I did see some more eggs stuck to a leaf last night, but they were gone by this morning.

Re: Peppered Cory Eggs

I had read that they will turn moldy (white and fuzzy looking) and so far none of mine look like that. I guess I had expected by now to have noticed some change? But, since its the first time I have bothered to pull the eggs from being eaten I really have no idea what I am looking at. Is there ...

Re: Peppered Cory Eggs

Thanks. The eggs have been there now since Friday, and do not appear to have changed at all. I think I will give it until tomorrow evening (would have then been 5 days) and if no change would think its safe to assume they are not viable.

Peppered Cory Eggs

Ok, I read the sticky at the top of the page, but am still uncertain on if the eggs I have are fertile or not. About 36 hours ago, I noticed cory eggs on the walls of my tank, I scraped them off and have them floating in a container in the main tank, with an airstone in the container. The sticky at ...
