What's all the fuzz about?
I would like to know the sex before I buy a fish, who wouldn't?
These reactions characterize why I'm not present on Dutch forums any more.

L263 or L264?
Hi guys, I'm not 100% sure that these fish are L264. The dots are small, the dots stop at the edge of the dorsal fin. Also is the colour seems different. I noticed L263 grows much bigger, my tank isn't big enough for L263 :P The pleco's are between 10 and 13 cm. I was comparing with the last three ...

Re: When to define a snub nose
There may not be proof of it with Hypancistrus, but we've seen these things with humans and other animals. So I agree with apistomaster. However, I find it strange Ingo Seidel writes this in his book.

Re: Yellow King Tiger Pleco? Male or Female
L333 can have different patterns, depends on where they've been caught. Porto do Moz: wide lines and a bright yellow colour Xingu: most seen pattern Alenquer: thinner, pale lines Boda Seda: thinner, yellow lines http://www.hypancistrus.nl/wp-content/uploads/2010/10/L333website.jpg But I find it hard ...

Re: When to define a snub nose
In my book of Ingo Seidel - Hypancistrus Fibel: A big problem with raising young Hypancistrus species is deformations in the headarea, called in German mopsköpfigkeit. These deformations are a problem in raising youngsters. On genetic grounds, for instance in-breeding, mopsköpfigkeit can be excluded. ...

Well this is actually a surprise.
The seller was 100% sure that he'd be a male.
@ unungy: I haven't read about hairy females. Where can I find your article?
I'm curious.

Re: Urgent ID needed- is this L173
If this was a L46, the eyes would be the same as L46.
Then the stripes on the fins are horizontal, that's correct for the L173.
But I don't know about the hybrids and L66 individuals etc.
However, I would say L173.
