how much/often should i feed my tsn?

how much/often should i be feeding my tiger shovelnose?
i am told that adults are fed large meals weekly or when the meal been digested and the fish starts hunting for food again... right?

mine is only 8" at the moment and seems to have nothing on his mind other than eating! he's eating 2-4 3" long ...

i think the max size for these fish varies greatly.

i have heard of them stopping at 10" but on the other end of the scale my lfs has a 22" specimen that is around 15 months old! (that they won't sell me at any price!)

i have two that were bought at the same time a year ago at 4",one is now 14 ...

your temprature and ph are fine for sorubim lima, i have 2 in a 80gal for 2 years now with temp and ph the same as yours and they're doing great!

mine did the mucus thing you talk of when i first got them but once settled they've not done it for months??

they can get quite big with adequete ...

lima shovelnose sexing??

evening all, does anybody know if it is possible to sex lima shovelnose cats?

i have had 2 for a couple of months now and wondered if there is any way of telling them apart.

also,has anyone bred or heard of anyone breeding these?

anyone on here keep them?

so do you think i would be able to accomadate a tankmate with my limas?

if so what would be a good choice?

the tank is 48x24x24 and is filtered with a 36x15x18 sump

i originally bought them when young with plans of growing them up in the 100 gal and having them as tankmates in the 300gal with my ...

what's wrong with lima shovelnoses anyway?

i have a pair in a 100 gal planted tank and they look beautiful!

tsn's in my opinion are only suitable for public aquaiums

a similar problem exists in the reptile hobby where (hobbyists?) feel the need to keep african rock,indian and reticulated ...

adult giraffe cat pics??

hi there, i purchased a small giraffe cat today (4")

i understand that they lose the giraffe like markings as they mature,and was wondering if anyone has any pics of adults??

also any expiernces, advice on this species also welcome.

cheers guys and just to let you know,he ate some bloodworms yesterday and whilst i was thawing out some whitebait for my freshwater stingrays i spotted a small one in the bag (about 2") so thought i'd give it a go.wow,what a mouth! he darted out from behind a peice of bogwood he was hiding behind ...

hi there,i recently purchased a 5" lima shovelnose from my lfs,i visited the shop a couple of times to see how he was doing and saw him feed on bloodworm a couple of times before buying.anyway since i got him home he has not fed in three days, i've tried cockle bloodworm brineshrimp prawn and pellet ...
