Alrighty, shimming is going to happen. I believe my boss is on his way to the hardware store to get me stuff to shim with. I put the tank next to a main wall, because I figured it would be the strongest, but it's just not level. At least transferring the fish, etc. will be easier this time because I ...

New old apartment, uneven floors?
Hello! I just moved to a new apartment in a building that is over a hundred years old. The building has settled a bit and I needed to put my 55 gallon tank in the best place possible. I just set it up in the most level place in the apartment and it is uneven by a little bit. If I get down on the ...

Bloody base of cory fin?
Hello! I was looking at my LFS tonight, admiring three large and boisterous bronze cories, when I noticed two of them have a tiny bloodspot at the base of each fin. I had this happen to one of my cories once and I believe it was a bacterial infection of some sort? Would this be very contagious and ...

Ramblin Man: yes, still spiders and fleas. The apartment I'm in was not lived in for many years, so spiders set up house. I haven't done anything about the spiders yet. Fleas are something else entirely, though. Spiders are easily squishable, fleas aren't!!

Flea bombs?
My dog has fleas and I'd like to flea bomb the house, but I am wondering if there is a way to do it safely for my 55 gallon aquarium? I read the Hertz flea spray packaging and it says to turn the filters on the aquarium off and to cover the aquarium, the bomb goes off for two hours and then you let ...

I'm on the bottom floor apartment of a house. I don't think spraying the outside would do much. The building was built in the 40s or 50s and the spiders seem to all be in the walls pretty well. I was just thinking this morning that the exterminator friend of mine whose services we use here at work ...

Needing to bug bomb apartment...but how to with fish?
I have a 55 gallon fish tank in my spider and bug-infested apartment. I'd like to do a spider bomb, but am wondering if there is somehow a fish-safe way to do it or if anyone has any ideas? I really appreciate it!

Cory id please!
Well! I haven't posted in awhile, but I've finally got a new cory and I don't know what to i.d. him/her as! I looked through the Cat-eLog, and the closest thing I could find that looked similar to mine was the C. Sodalis, only because of the variations that the Sodalis seem to have. My fish looks ...

Sick albino cory with bloody spots
Yesterday I was at a friend of mine's house. They have a nice-looking 20 gallon tank that houses some great-looking fish, including a usually-spry, 3" long, fat albino cory. The fish is usually doing regular cory things throughout the tank, but this time I noticed it was hiding under a leaf and ...

Next time use a basketball as bait for catfish!
Maybe some of you have seen this before. My aunt from Texas sent me a forward this morning of a newspaper article that had been in The Sunday Wichita (Kansas) Eagle newspaper. Apparently a couple of people had seen a basketball floating in a small pond in a weird manner. They went to investigate it ...

Hi and welcome to PC! 8)
USD cats are best kept in groups, which means the tank would be too small. What about a group of otocinclus? That would be something different and interesting. They stay small, have neat racecar-like stripes, and are really funny, spastic little fish. They will take care ...

Well, last night I freaked the tiger barbs out for 45 minutes in my attempts to catch them. I took them to the lfs and I knew that the owner lady was leaving right around six because she had company coming and I showed up at about five minutes to six. She took the barbs and just blopped them right ...

Fin-nipping tiger barbs
I have a 55 gallon tank in which there are six tiger barbs, among many cories, other catfish, tetras, and loaches. I got six tigers to spread out aggression, but I recently noticed that my pleco's tail is pretty nipped-looking and some of my cories' dorsal fins are a little nipped, too. I'll have to ...

If it was cold I would do that, but lately we've had straight weeks of mid-70s weather, so I'm not too worried about the climate. :) They'll get to the new apartment pretty quickly. It takes about ten minutes of driving. If it's rainy the day I move them I'll do the bubble wrap because the temps ...

Moving my fish
I'm going to be moving my tank and my fish to a new apartment soon and I'm wondering what is the proper way to go. I have maybe 30 fish and it's a 55 gallon tank. I bought some giant plastic tubs to use as storage at the apartment, but I'm wondering if I can use them in my aquarium transport? I was ...
