Re: Help,how to distinguish L117 from L018
I assume you mean L177?. Not easy from a young age as juvenile L18 have rather large spots and deep color. Best wait till there around 4" where L18s spots appear not to grow with the fish and more appear, whilst L177 will retain large spots with color still deep and in instances even orange. L177 ...

Re: Two headed L333 fry
This has occurred once before in a Hypancistrus that i am aware of in Australia, the fry was killed for obvious reason. It was on Plecofanatics so most of that info will be gone although i do believe i saved the photo.

Re: Unknown L-number fry...? ID-help.
Snubbed like head and large eye in comparison would suggest L201, given the options of the three loricariidae.
Although the fish has more a resemblance to a Parotocinclus specie.

Re: Sexing via genitals L134
I agree with matsp the Ancistrinae family is generally quite easy to sex without this method. My experience is that the much larger species are alot more pronounced in this area, and with that in mind its alot more simple. Simply said the genitals are U and V separating the sex's, i have not tried ...

Re: A little genetic help
To make it clear i do not condone what your doing "but" to answer your question. In the first generation of the "X" you will receive only the dominant variation in which half young will be carriers of the recessive gene, unless in the rare instance you have two dominant genes fight in the main "X ...
