Re: Tatia nigra?

Not really, unless you were drinking while reading that page  Seriously, I was refering to the Soares-Porto paper on the Revision of Tatia. On page 533 there's a description of the colour in alcohol. I take it you have that paper; if not, let me know and I can send you a PDF. Hi Marc would be ...

Re: Tatia nigra?

The colour is described as dark brown with light brown fins (caudal is dark brown). That doesn't seem to match velvety purple/black or could this be caused by the alcohol (page 533)?
Alcohol, alcohol, are you suggesting that I had been drinking when I looked at these fish Marc

Re: Tatia nigra

Hi Steve
agree entirely with you. I'll have to get some better pics. done and post them up for further discussion.
 Ingo and Johny Jensen are on their way here now so I'll try and coerce them into shooting some for us.

Re: Tatia nigra

Steve
your hypothesis takes us right back to sp. violet I'm afraid, as there don't appear to be any pictures of live nigra about. :D

Re: Tatia nigra

Hi Marc these were identified by Ingo Seidel when he saw them 2 years as nigra. They were originally imported as sp. purple by Pier Aquatics but Ingo brought us up to speed on the new, then, scientific description as nigra. Stunning fish with a velvety purple/black pallor and brilliant white ...

Tatia nigra?

That would be Tatia nigra , I suppose. We need a couple of photos of these, as there are none in the Cat-eLog That's good enough for me as well  Wrt your last posting: the revision only shows dead specimens; I prefer live ones. But thanks anyway for the offer/attempt to make some pictures ...

Cory "Super " Punctatus

Picked a group of these up from my LFS at Wigan Pier yesterday. They came from Brazil as Super Punctatus but as we know Punctatus are not Brazilians. They have been tagged as a new species, CW37, by Corydorasworld. They are in fact Brazilian from the State of Amazonas. They originate in the Rio ...

here is a pic of my Argentinian Cory fry at 2 months. They originate from the Roi Paraguay system in Argentina and prefer cool conditions. They are very pretty little fish. :D

Re: CORYDORAS ROBINEAE - My successful hormonal spawning

Guys, I have just read through this thread and it seems to me that we have to move on! Life is just too short and wonderful to waste on fruitless debate.

sturisoma fry

Hi rusty
thanks for the reply#
The concept is fairly simple but interesting. I will give it a try once I've built my cylindrical tank.

Sturisoma sp. magdalense

Is anybody out there having significant success bringing through sturisoma fry?
I'm bringing 5-10 fry through from each spawning averaging about 100 eggs.
The problem is nutrition. That is getting enough into the larvae.

brochis lifespans

I had my last brochis splendens group for 12 years.
I t was 8 years before I ever got a spawning out of them.
They eventually gradually faded away.

sturisoma magdalense

thanks for the prompt response, however I have looked again at my wholesaler list and the fish are still listed under the above name. My list however is from Columbia and not from Peru as I originally stated. They have an appearance of Panamense but are nowhere near as large, being only 6 inches SL ...

breeding and raising sturisoma magdalense

has anybody any experience in this field? I have 8 adults which have recently spawned with about 200 fry coming through. Have spawned S. Panamense in the past with some success and hope these will be as co-operative. They are supposed tobe a new fish from Peru although I have been unable to locate ...
