I agree with what Barbie says about 2 heaters. I use 2 heaters on every tank, and have never had an issue. Good luck. When I had my zebras, I kept the temp at 86. I now keep my L400s at 84. No issues.

I found this egg with a tail in the main L400 breeding tank today. There were 3 total out of the cave. Dad, cave and all the eggs are now safely in the fry trap, until they are big enough to join their brothers and sisters in the grow out tank...

L340s are fairly easy to breed, and they won't break the bank getting a group. Good luck...

I think that depends on space. In a breeding tank where I have only a few males, I would only have caves on the bottom of the tank. More males need more caves, therefore I would add a second layer. Hope this helps. Good luck...

Thanx, I'll check it out. I noticed that many, if not all pics of these fish, use sand as a substrate. I assume this is the norm. I know they come from granite rocky areas. I was going to go bare bottom, as all of my pleco breeding colonies are. Not a good idea ?
