plec for 5g w/betta
I'm looking for an algae bulldozer for my daughters 5g acrylic hex with her betta. Problem is, no matter how much we clean it, the 50/50 bulb, glow in the dark everything and the poor filtration(built in the hood) keep algae growing. avg temp is 75*f

It was a tadpole madtom. I got 2 at 1/2" with some ghost shrimp at the LFS i worked at. I have had both for a little more than 3 years. I orriginally gave them to my african cichlids as feeders but a year latter when i went to remove the fish durring a tank upgrade, i found them hiding under the ...

Preserving your dead fish
Does anyone keep their deads?
If so, How do you preserve them?
I've heard putting fish in high proof alcohol works but what about long term?
I've had a madtom for years and he just died. I got it in the freezer and i want to keep him.
How should i go about preserving him?

Re: What to keep a 4' cat in?
As a general rule, you may be right with an 8x8x16 but who really has the room for something like that.. i think a 4x4x8 would do just fine for a redtail catfish that would otherwise be cramped in a 100g tank or die. I may not be able to proving the best environment for a monster fish but i can do ...

Golden Flathead Info?
I'm trying to find information on a 'golden flathead cat'.
I've found it listed at both Gnathobagrus depressus and Amarginops depressus. all i've found so far is it's in the Bagridae family.
does anyone have any info on this fish? does it have a new name?

Re: I need catfish poison!
they shock the ponds about once a month to see how things are going. They noticed the averages were lower and lower, the smaller fish numbers dropped and the larger fish looked thinner. They later found that they had a ctafish problem

Re: I need catfish poison!
the ponds were built to grow trophy bass and bream. The blue cats are taking over. the bream population has dropped 28% and the bass have dropped 31%. The last monster blue cat weighted 19 pounds and when they cut him open bream and bass poured out. I agree with ya'll, if it were my pond, it would ...
