Re: Zebra otocinclus spawning behavior

So far I have found a total of 5 fry. They seem to eventually move up toward the surface. In the breeder tank they are almost all up near the surface now. Should be interesting trying to get them to feed. I took some nice closeup video of the fry from underneath and on the side. I would say they ...

Looks like velvet, I've never used those meds but I would increase temp and aeration and follow recommendations for meds you are using.

their first spawn since I moved their tank seems it took them awhile to get back in the swing of things.

Re: Problem keeping L172a alive

I purchased 5 L172a from two very reliable sources and over the past 2 months they have slowly died off. The aquarium is a 450 gallon (8 feet long and 4 feet wide); the water parameter is around ec 180 (tds 90); kh 1-2 gh 3-4 and nitrate near 0. There are fair amount of live plants and large amount ...

Re: L 159 luzia egg problems

Hello. I have a reverse trio of l 159. They have spawned about 5 times since April. I still haven't gotten any fry! The eggs have always got kicked out so I am able to see that they are all different sizes? They always go bad no mater what I do. About a month ago I moved one male and one female to ...

Re: Meet Chewy

Jeanne, Throughout Africa the most common wood used for dugout canoes is teak. Iron wood would not work as it is so dense that it sinks in water (hence why I collect it for aquariums). Other than Chewy eating it... the wood lasts forever in the aquarium. I have pieces that have been in tanks since ...

Dang they are busy! Congratulations! Are you swimming in fry? Or are they like most other whiptails where slowly you lose them until you end with about 10% survival? Cheers, Eric No I'm swimming in them I would say I've gotten my survival rate to 90 percent and have released 20 juvies back into the ...

Re: Meet Chewy

This is a piece of South African black iron wood I collected near Kruger. It is one of the hardest woods on the planet, but Chewy can make short work of it. Now you know why one common name for Panaque is Coma Canoa (canoe eater). You can easily see how a Panaque could sink a dugout canoe. -Shane ...
