Re: Spectracanthicus zuanoni (L354) spawned!
Last week the pair spawned again :d CueEQgNJ4 I left the eggs with the male, who did a good job! By day 4 he lost a few of the eggs so I collected them and put them safe in a frying. WMf5Dj5PAwQ On day 5 he decided he had enough and kicked the rest of them out. They started hatching later that day ...

It has been a while and I noticed I forgot to update on the fry. So here goes :d They are doing great. Slow growing species. The group hasn't spawned since. ZqOV07BvbkY In this video there are a few more interesting F1's. Ancistrus sp. L255 and Parancistrus nudiventris :icon-wink: IGJ5qpaU2fI

Re: Ancistrus sp. L255 spawned!!
The fish have spawned for the third time :d This time the male could hold on to his eggs for the full 6 day's. The raft of eggs held on to the roof of the cave just by one or two eggs. The male holding the raft up to the roof with his mouth while fanning them with his fins. It was quite a remarkable ...

Re: My first real weather spawns!
Same here :d It has been quiet for the past two weeks. Then my Ancistrus sp. L309 spawned but he ate the eggs after fighting with the other male again... But...my Panaqolus claustilifer are trapping for the first time and my own bred Panaqolus sp. L397 are also trapping for their first time. We also ...

Re: Ancistrus sp. L255 spawned!!
I see, thanks! May I know what do you feed them and where did you get the cave from? I feed all my fish Repashy. The cave I have had for a long time, don't know where it came from. But you can find this type of cave quite easy I think. For a while now I buy all my caves from nature2aqua, based in ...

Re: Ancistrus sp. L255 spawned!!
awesome! are you using blackwater and how often and how much do you change your water? cheers! I use normal tapwater (Ph 7 Kh 3 conductivity around 300 microsiemens), no rain or osmoses water. Due to my job I try to do as many water changes as I can. I try every 5-7 days and then change about 75%.

Hatching day for the L255 eggs this morning
Note that the fry already show some colour even prior to hatching. Something I have noticed while breeding ranunculus type species.

It was a first for me too. I needed to let the single fry feel safe and I know from raising Sturisoma fry that they learn to feed from other siblings. So it was just worth a shot and it worked

Re: Ancistrus ranunculus spawned!
I would like to continue this thread but with a difference. First of all, I lost this group and the juveniles to a large power cut... It was one of the worst days in my fish keeping years. I lost many fish. But was most gutted about losing my ranunculus. A few months later I bought another group ...
