Re: ID my syno please
I caught one! Still really hard to get a good pic though. Here's what I got: syno4.jpg If they are the waterloti they get bigger than I was planning on. I have 8 in my 75g right now, how fast do they grow? Are they likely to eat smaller fishes? Like spice rasboras (Boraras urophthalmoides)? The ...

Re: ID my syno please
I looked up waterloti on the catelog and they look almost identical to this picture: http://planetcatfish.com/catelog/image.php?image_id=7087 I have been trying to catch them for a better shot, should've done that before I put them in the tank. I'm sort of dissapointed if that's what they are ...

ID my syno please
These were being sold as yellow syno's, the guy said they were an undescribed species. I'd really like to know what they are, how big they'll get etc. Sorry for the quality of the pictures, They are very hard to photograph!

Re: pregnant tatia perugiae (oil catfish)
Thank you for the replies. I'm going to try to get some flubendazole, it is quite hard to come by here in Canada. I'll cut the feeding down too, it's hard to do..they just seem so hungry!

Re: pregnant tatia perugiae (oil catfish)
Yeah, they could be just getting fat. It's hard to tell. I'll try to get in there for a deep clean and then cut down on the feeding. The tank is filled with driftwood and plants so it's a bit hard to do a gravel vac without tearing apart the tank.

Re: pregnant tatia perugiae (oil catfish)
Ok, so I have another question. It is my understanding that once the female appears gravid, the eggs are already fertilized and so could be moved to her own tank without a male? Is this correct? Also, I've noticed I have quite a planaria infestation going in their tank. Is there something I could ...

The ghost shrimp were removed a few weeks back, but I added 3 more adults for a total of 3M/3F.

Re: pregnant tatia perugiae (oil catfish)
They are the only fish in the tank right now. I don't have anything setup for any potential babies right yet, but I do have a few breeder nets I could use until I could get something setup. Is 80F too warm to keep them? Should I be doing frequent water changes with slightly cooler water to get them ...

Re: pregnant tatia perugiae (oil catfish)
Hmm, from the breeding article on this site, it gives the impression that they are easy to breed. I guess not. Does any body have any tips on getting them to breed? Our tap water is quite soft, GH 4, KH 2, pH around 6.2. I keep them at about 80F and run an aquaclear and a large sponge filter on ...

Re: pregnant tatia perugiae (oil catfish)
Well, I think they may have just been stuffed full of bloodworms, as I don't see any eggs. I have added more driftwood so there are lots of tight spaces. I've Also added 2 more males + 1 female for a total of 3 females/3 males in a 20g long tank. I think they are not full grown yet, they are only ...

pregnant tatia perugiae (oil catfish)
So I just snuck up on my their tank and turned the lights on as I never see them as was curious to see how they were doing and if they were still alive in there or what. Well, it looks to me like both females are prego! :D I could be wrong but they are quite, quite fat and I thought I could see eggs ...

Re: care of syno. robertsi
How hard is the water you have them in currently? I think I might turn the CO2 down a touch to raise the pH to 7.2 or so. Temps are currently at around 23C as the oto cats seem to appreciate cooler temps.

Re: care of syno. robertsi
I could easily remove the coral from the filter, but this would allow the pH to drop a bit more. The water from our tap is quite soft with GH4 and KH2. I just tested the water in the tank and GH was 11, KH 12. Is this too hard for them? It said on the catelog that excessively low pH will erode fin ...

Re: care of syno. robertsi
Thanks for the quick replies! I have read that article and it wasn't very encouraging...I hope they do OK for me. I wouldn't be adding any other tank inhabitants, it would be just them and the oto's. The pH is around 7 but I imagine the water is fairly hard. I run a bit of CO2 to the tank and have ...

care of syno. robertsi
Hi all, After much searching it appears as though I may be able to get a hold of a few syno. robertsi. I haven't seen them yet so hopefully that is what they actually are... There doesn't seem to be a whole lot of info out there regarding their care, so I have a few questions for the experts here ...
