Re: Microsynos

Hey

Having looked at the photographs of Microsynodontis chrysti and species 1 the newly available Microsynodontis 'species' microglanis are definetly not chrysti .

They have a look of the females of species 1 but I am not convinced that they are this specie either.

Stop press- Ryedale A.S. Open Show (U.K.) 2009

Yes I know that this is very early news but as several Planet Catfish forum members regularly make the journey to visit the annual Ryedale Aquarist Society Open Show (with 6 special catfish and 39 'other fish species' classes)the need to let you know of a venue change (due to the sad,and unforseen ...

Re: eupterus's surprised me!

Hey I have been bitten, twice, by an Ivory Synodontis (S. bastiani). No blood was drawn but very vivid red patches were left on my skin. When the pectoral spine of a Synodontis 'species' Nigeria (colour form of S.nigrita) caught the middle finger of my right hand it was not a nice experience? The ...

In the U.K. this fish is Synodontis 'species' Tiger. Another 'friend' from the Czech Republic.

Re: Sold as Synodontis Angelicus?

Hey Folks

The Syno. in the two photographs is one of several hybrid forms sold in the U.K. as Synodontis 'species' Tiger. Very easy to keep and care for. There is a beautiful angelicus hybrid featured on the Scotcat website article 'not so angelic(us)'

Re: Synodontis ID's??

Hey Folks The photographs 2 and 3 could well be Synodontis obesus. My initial thoughts on the identity of the fish in the first photograph was that it was the golden form of Synodontis nigrita, that is found in a number of colour and spotting variations, known under the trade name of Synodontis ...

Re: care of syno. robertsi

Hey Folks Synodontis robertsi are NOT ALWAYS EASY to keep in good health (although piggy4 from this forum has done very well with his S. robertsi). If you go to the Ryedale Aquarist Society website at http://www.ryedaleaquaristsociety.co.uk then to the articles section you will find a very ...

Re: Comoensis or Tourei ?

Hey piggy You cheeky Lancashire person (you are not young enough to be called a lad ha ha ha). Anyway I think that for your cheek you will have to dip your hand into your pocket at the weekend and purchase a copy of Issue 1 of The Aquarium Gazette. What do you think Dark One? See you soon. Re: Please help ID a Syno

Hey Although these 'longirostris' do have the look of a eupterus about them I don't think that eupterus is in their 'bloodline' as the body stays to slim - or at least it has in mine. My 'longirostris' has the competition of a Synodontis community around 'him' so may not have grown, as yet, as fast ...

Re: Please help ID a Syno

Hey These fish are also here in the U.K. under the Synodontis longirostris name. When small they do look like that specie but as they grow, the one in my care has grown from under 2" to 6" in less than 14 months, take on more of a 'washed out' ocellifer look. Take care if mixing with a eupterus as ...
