Freebie - surplus bag of aquarium sand

I've a 5kg bag of B.D.Trading aquarium sand looking for a home. This is great stuff recomended to me by David Sands after I posted here a few years back asking about substrate. At present however I don't have a tank running and I'm not likely to for some time so it's got to go. I'm in London NW1 ...

Stopping a filter leaking

Hi, I'm in the process of setting up a tank with in my living room with an Eheim external. I know I'm being a bit paranoid, but I'm terrified that the tubing between the inlet/outlet and the filter is going to come loose and flood the room. Cory lifespan

Apologies if this is a really dumb question... I've just never seen it mentioned anywhere!
How long do corys live? Is there any difference between their natural and captive lifespans? I've had my bronze corys for seven years and they're still full of beans :D

On a similar note.... does anyone know if the textured backgrounds that Juwel make are plec friendly? Not too worried about potential damage of the background as much as poisoning the fish if it's rasping algae off it.

Thanks for the advice. Have had a look aound central London but not been able to track down BD sand. There's some unbranded aquarium sand in Aquatic Design Centre but I'm not sure how to tell whether it's inert - I suspect that if I ask they'll say yes regardless of whether it is or not... Oxford's ...

The right sand for a cory tank?

Hi, First post after a couple of weeks lurking :-) I'm setting up a community tank that will have six or so bronze cories in and want to use a sandy base. Can anyone recommend a product available in the UK? I've heard SD Aquarium Sand mentioned but not been able to track it down... I've bought a bag ...
