Re: L15 and BN compatibility?
Honestly, I wasn't sure if I could get females or not. So, I ordered 6, with the hopes that I would get, at least, one female.

Re: L15 and BN compatibility?
Cool. Thanks for the info.
Yeah, I'm changing my 75 gallon tank over to a pleco tank. Right now, I have my L15s in a 40 and my BNs in a 29. Both need more room, I think. So, I'll give them a bunch of driftwood and some clay pots turned into caves. Hopefully, they'll spawn.

Re: Bunocephalus coracoideus aka Banjo... Strange Behaviour?
Honestly, until you take it out of the water, and it doesn't wiggle...it's alive! LOL I've seen mine do some very strange things. I thought I had a dead a few weeks ago. He was upside down. I picked him up, turned him over, and he swam away from me. After that...I've seen enough to think they're ...

Re: Unsightly pipes, heaters etc?
I use slate in my tanks, regularly. You can provide a nice place for fish to hide, and a nice to place to hide unsightly pipes, hoses, and other assorted implements. ;)

Re: Happiness & Security of Plecostomus
You can put a much bigger tank in an apartment. Honestly, I'm not buying that as an answer as to why you don't have a bigger one. I'm trying to jump on ya, but you need a bigger tank for the plecos you have. My setup: Currently, in one room of my two bedroom apartment, I'm running: 1) 75 gallon ...

Re: Here's an interesting conundrum
I sieved some great looking sand from a stream bed that increased my TDS 100 ppm. I used it in my Heckel Discus display tank and even with large water changes of tapwater with 340 ppm TDS it rose to 450 ppm TDSand a pH of 7.8. The Heckels did not seem affected although ideally they should be kept ...

I would hope so. And, honestly, at the time I did sand the first time, I didn't have burrowing fish.

Re: Banjo Catfish
I bought 3 myself, and have them housed with some Zebra Danios. Until recently they were hanging out by themselves. But, now I see two of them hanging out together. Honestly, I'm hoping this is mating behavior. As far as eating goes, I feed mine sinking carnivore pellets. Drop it in front of their ...

Here's an interesting conundrum
Ok, I hate sand. The only sand I have experience with, however, is sandblasting sand. Which, ultimately, ends up as black gooey mess in your tank. So, after that experience, I vowed never again. I shouldn't use that never word...I always end up chomping down that word in the end. So...here's my ...

Re: Biggest and Best ?
Depending on what you are looking for really. Of late, I've found my LFS to have more of the funky stuff, i.e. Chacas and Banjos. But, if you are looking for BN, Sailfin, or Commons...probably Petco or WalMart.

Thanks Darkwolf, I can't wait to get all of this done and over with. It will a blessing to finish. Any time. :) And yes....it was a blessing to be finished. LOL Just remember to take your time, and not hurt the fish. It can be a pain, but I found the time trying to catch my fish fun and enjoyable ...

Re: Moving in a month. Whats the best way?
I just got through moving downstairs in my building. Honestly, it's not terribly hard. Here was what I did: For the big tanks: (75, 55, and 40): 1) Did a normal cleaning and gravel vacuuming. That should remove most of the standard junk. 2) I put about 3 gallons of fish water, from the tank, in a ...

Re: HELP
i am always amazed when I see how readily available they are with no warnings on pending size on any of the tanks at the LFS's here. I shiver when I think of their pending fate as I look at them. They are adorable tho when small and BIG, I can see how it happens. So sad. Umm...Yeah!!!! I have ...

Re: About Banjo Catfish... Please hurry!
One thing I would recommend is getting some sinking catfish food. They don't need a lot of plant matter in their diet, so I just use the sinking carnivore pellets. They suck those up!!! I haven't had any issues with predation. Like I said, I have zebra danios in there with them. They swim all over ...

I gotta take some pictures!!!
Chaca chaca I, finally, found one of these the other day. :) Needless to say, I had to have it. Right now, I have him in a 10 gallon tank, with some stuff for him to hide in. I'm not a fan of sand, so I'm trying to give him maximum hiding spaces, while not succumbing to the sand mess again. Anyone ...

Re: About Banjo Catfish... Please hurry!
Honestly, I have 3 banjos and some zebra danios in a 20 gallon tank. They seem to get along well. The one thing to be sure of...make sure that you are feeding your banjos, and that they are eating. They are an ambush predator, so they won't get food unless you make sure they do. I feed mine sinking ...

Re: Keeping them for just a while...
I trade fish all the time, just not back to an LFS. LOL Honestly, when I get fish, I have a purpose for them...to enjoy. :) I try to make sure that I have the room for all the fish I want, and if I don't....I don't take/buy/adopt the fish. I love every fish I see, so saying no is hard, but I try to ...
