I’m not going for the big money, following your perspective. The small amount is OK with me. Although some luxury’s like owning a car would be nice.

Interesting post. It really made me think things through.
There are other things to bear in mind too. Do you want a career out of ecology, or do you just want to study because you are interested?

The above gives me something to think about. I'm letting the idea of the US/PhD option sink in. I discarded the US as an country to study option quite early. If I am honest, the country scares me a little. But it sounds as an option worth looking into.

I thought that, in China, saving the panda from extinction was a matter of national pride, and therefore a high priority.
There's a case for letting the cheetah go extinct. They are inbred to the point where it impairs their fertility, due to a genetic bottleneck sometime in the past.

Re: he's at it again.
A standard 150g tank is 72x18x24 - which according to the standard of 4L x 2L x 2L is good for a fish up to about 9" - maybe you can stretch it to 12" for a very docile fish (e.g. a single large pl*co).

Re: Can I keep a peruvian pictus?
4 feet = 120cm right? (You really should try the metric system like the rest of the world, and for that matter, driving right tongue1 )
Even for a 30cm pleco that (120x60x60cm) would be way to small in my book. I would keep a clownloach in at least a 300x90x60cm, but if you increase the hight a bit ...

Re: Can I keep a peruvian pictus?
29g, thats like 100 liters, or something like that, right?
Thats way to small for a group of clown loaches (if that is what you are meaning by clown) they will grow to 30cm (thats like 12 inches I thought) so a good tank size for them would be like a 750g tank, not a 29.

What I would realy, realy, realy want for Christmas, are some wildcaught (or F1, F2 for that matter) Apistogramma cacatuoides from the Rio Ucayali (drainage)!
And then I would hope they would look as beautiful as these wildcaught (F1) caca's:

It is often quoted to have a footprint that is 4 times the length of an adult fish by twice the length of the adult fish as an acceptable minimum.
That sound rather small to me...

Re: possible rabauti or zygatus and something i cant identify
Nice fish!
I would change the substrate you keep them on to sand. Cory's like sand very much and that mix of big rounded en pointy gravel isn't a very good substrate if you want them to stay healty and have nice long barbels.

Hmm...
That spotted head thing does indeed sapperate my fish from the L205.
Sadly.
But clearly.
By the L387 there is no photo of a belly. What does there belly look like?

Yeah if it really are L147 I am not so happy. They get a bit to big for my tank (imho) and they totaly dont fit in my Rio Ucayali Biotoop. :(
That's why I am a bit reluctant to just accept that they are L147. Can you explain to me why you think it are L147's and not L205's?

A few weeks ago I bought 5 fish under the name of L206. Dutchfry told me on a Dutch forum that it where not the Panaque's I wanted to buy, but that it where Pleckoltia. He thought it where L205, or L147. Perhaps you can give your thoughts about these fish. It would be nice end up being sure that it ...

Cory's should at least be with 6. More is better. If you have enough room I would take 10-12 of 1 spiecie of Corydoras. It is the best for the Corydoras if you have a sand bottem, otherwise you should have rounded small gravel. Gravel with sharp edges my cut of the Corydoras barbels ...
