I believe this is C. napoensis. Sorry... :( . I'm going off the very high contrast between the gold and black. The shade of gold doesn't quite match either. Here's mine. There's a C. napoensis right behind him!

Re: how to treat sick cory
Hi,
Sorry to hear about your cory. Are you sure it's a disease and not the other fish picking on him every now and then? A treatment course of Melafix and Pimafix should fix his fins up nicely. Make sure you do a 25-30% water change when you're done treating him because Melafix and Pimafix tend to ...

PLEASE ID WC Cory
Hi all.
We got these cories in last week and I would appreciate an ID. My manager and I always order "oddball" cories from the fish order sheet at work because the people working at the distributor dont know anything about Corydoras (or any loricariids for that matter). We ordered C.agassizii and ...

Yup definitely Ancistrus sp.(3) and it is albino. I've kept these guys and have found them to be interesting indeed. Looks to be a juvenile male to me.
Enjoy him!

Re: Llanos biotope catfish?
As far as I can remember, there are no commonly imported Nannostomus sp. from the llanos. I could be wrong though. I think that you may have to compromise on the schooling charcins, if you do want them. I think your best bet for being close to authenticity is Cardinals. They're cheap, easy to get ...

Re: Llanos biotope catfish?
The only way I can think of for identifying a particular range such as Los Llanos Lagunas is to google each partcular species along with the word llanos or something. Short answer is its gonna take a LOT of time. Instead of being so constrained by the llanos, why not make a little room for error by ...

Re: Llanos biotope catfish?
Hi.
I found this site while looking for llanos fish species. I know that this is a list of fish from the Orinoco (Venezuela), not the llanos, but i think you may be able to find some species that suit you since the llanos is part of the Orinoco. Most of these species aren't suited to your 20L and ...

Hello Kostas,
If I remember correctly, Melafix and Pimafix lower the amount of dissolved oxygen available for the fish to use even with a bubble stone or two in the aquarium. Your best bet is to do a water change (largest possible... 33-50%??) and halt further use of those products until you see ...

Hello
I just purchased these two cories today and was wondering if I identified them correctly. I believe one is C. leucomelas and the other C. delphax, but would like a second oppinion.
Thanx

I find that black worms that are missed by my fish do the same thing in regular aquarium gravel. I never thought that they were acting as scavengers cleaning my tank and I didn't know that they were reproducing! Thanx for the post Larry. I will leave them in there from now on.

Hi all,
I bought this little fella about 8 months ago under the name Vampire Pleco L007. I didn't know very much then and accepted that it was L007. But recently it has been coming out more often (she always hid in a nook in a piece of wood) and just last night I got a good look at her. I believe ...

Hello. Yes different species of Corydoras will school together quite happily. But sometimes it seems like they know that the others are not lke them and they DO prefer to school with their own species. In my 55 gallon, I have 2 C. aeneus, 2 C. trilineatus, 2 C. brevirostris, 1 C. nanus, 1 C. elegans ...

I'm all for Panaque maccus. It looks like mine when they were youngsters. And as for the lyretail I believe all of my P. maccus have lyretails... and I'm 100% on my identification of the ones I own.
Good luck macantley.

Hello and welcome to Planet Catfish.

Hey Shane. That's awesome that you had an Ancistrus that would go into your filter. I currently have one that does the same thing. I'll see him one day and then he'll be gone for weeks on end. Finally I either have to pull him out of the filter or he'll leave on his own. I find it amazing that it's ...

Re: Something's wrong with my cory
I have one Fundulopanchax gardneri killifish that keeps going belly up (I have a trio and it's always the same female). Every time this happens I'm always close by, so I can bring her back. I usually stick her into another tank till she comes to. Maybe you should get your cory out of that tank. Put ...

Re: Something's wrong with my cory
Whats the temperature? Do you have aeration? The fact that it's only that one cory may account that it wasn't at full health and that maybe ammonia or nitrites in the tank may be killing an already unhealthy fish. Just a possibility. I've found that if I have a fish thats "belly up" but still alive ...

Okay, so I'm not insane!! :D Thank you for the ID. The dental arrangement looked similar to my P. nigrolineatus, but the teeth seemed so tiny that I couldn't tell if they were indeed "spoon-shaped".
Thanx again. I'm relieved to know what they are. Now to replecate the environment... ;-) .
